I'm Zoey. I'm a 45-year-old introvert in rural South Carolina who likes video games, horror movies, and playing around with the ukulele.

I had my egg crack moment about twelve years ago and have kind of been coming to terms with my gender identity since.

Earlier this year, my dysphoria started getting bad again, at which point I came out to my doctor (who seemed supportive), who suggested I see a counselor (also supportive), who suggested I try to connect with the community, so here I am.

I'm still figuring out where to go from here, but after all this time, it feels like I'm closer to taking concrete steps than ever before, which is both exhilarating and nerve-wracking.

Anyway, how is your day?  :)

Maid Marion

 Welcome Zoeynel,

My day is going great.  I played 18 holes of golf in the morning and then went grocery shopping.  I now have dinner cooking in a slow cooker--boneless short rib in a ketchup BBQ sauce.  I'll take a nap then do some gardening in a couple of hours.

I also got my Orvis clothing order.  An orange sun defense 1/4-zip top and a pair of lilac quick dry shorts.

Hey Zoey!

Welcome aboard sister!

Exhilarated and nerve racked are pretty standard for the place you find yourself right now but, fear not... you hold the steering wheel and can take your life anywhere you need to go... You'll find many friends here who have gone from a life lived to the expectations of others to a life that far better serves the needs of the soul within them... All the answers you seek are out there and will be worth your time to seek out!

Onward!

"The individual has always had to struggle from being overwhelmed by the tribe... But, no price is too high for the privilege of owning yourself" ... Rudyard Kipling 🌸

Let go of the things that no longer serve you... Let go of the pretense of the false persona, it is not you... Let go of the armor that you have worn for a lifetime, to serve the expectations of others and, to protect the woman inside... She needs protection no longer.... She is tired of hiding and more courageous than you know... Let her prove that to you....Let her step out of the dark and feel the light upon her face.... amg🌸

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Hi Zoey,

I just joined yesterday, I've gotten to some great replies so far- I'm quite sure you will too!  I'm fairly close to your neck of the woods, just a bit north.  I definitely think it helps to talk to people about what you're experiencing, I tried to just slog through alone for a long time- too long.  Glad you signed up!

Sarah B

Hi Zoey

My name is Sarah and I would also like to formally, Welcome you to Susan's Place!

I see that other members of Susan's have also welcomed you as well.

It's great to have you here.  It sounds like you've been on quite a thoughtful and personal journey over the past twelve years and I'm glad you've found supportive people along the way.  Taking those next steps can definitely feel like a mix of excitement and nerves, but it's wonderful that you're feeling closer than ever to moving forward.

Your love for video games, horror movies and the ukulele sounds like a great mix of creativity and fun and I hope you will find plenty of people here who share those interests.  This is a good place to connect, ask questions and just be yourself without judgement.

Looking forward to seeing you around and hearing more about your journey when you feel ready to share.

Once you feel comfortable here, it would be appreciated if you add a little bit more about yourself in the other forums and threads.  I would appreciate it very much as, I'm always interested in learning something new about new members.

In addition members of Susan's will more than likely will discuss problems or issues that are similar to yours as most have experienced these issues as well.

Please keep in mind when posting that this is an ALL AGES PUBLIC Forum and the internet never forgets.  Do not post anything that you do not want to be made public.

Take care and all the best for the future.

Once again, Welcome to Susan's Place!

Best Wishes Always
