Sicko Sues Catholic Hospital (blog)

I'd just like to take a moment to note how annoyed I am that the media's standard practice is to call transgendered persons by the wrong gender. If you're born male, that's what your genes and your body will always be. You can lop off certain parts and get saline bags slapped into your chest, and take hormone pills a dozen times daily, but it won't make you female.

>somebody needs to write these idiots and let them know that we aren't sickos.  >:(<

It was bad enough to read this last week off some blog.  To read it from the Lone Star News convinces me that they have minds a micron wide or less.

It always floors me how some people just have no concept of empathy or understanding or anything. And usually they are the people who should know better, the religious types, the "community leaders", the "pillars of society". They must all have been absent from Bible-studies the day "judge not, lest ye be judged" was covered.

I would, but I suppose it's a waste of time to ask them to walk a mile in our shoes. Some people are just too programmed into their narrow little world to ever change.

that was quite amusing to read how wrong some of them were...

There's nothing wrong with those comments. Good, upstanding, decent observations. I think the Metallica is rotting your brain. Try some nice, wholesome Brittney instead.

Seriously though: SOME?!?! I think they were all bigoted arse comments.

Given the location and leanings of that particular blog I would be surprised were anyone here surprised at what they read.

Good. Except for "Enter Sandman" they're overrated anyway. Might I suggest some Tristiana or Amorphis instead? That way we can give the nice folks at Lonestar one more thing to call us evil over...  :P

Mind you, eurodance is already plenty evil...

I actually do agree with this comment.  If it were any other hospital, sure, but if a hospital specifies it conforms to religious standards, wtf?

"Suing to force a religiously affiliated hospital to go against their beliefs? Unbelievable..."

My guess is the good old boys in Texas listen to Metallica far more than Eurodance, or any dance, except Line Dancing.  And hey, consider the source.

You have a point, but I think what gets me are the comments. I know we should have thicker skin about this sort of thing by now, but it still hurts on an off day.

Kind of weird also that the GOB down in Texas are supporting the Catholic Church on this one, as I'm sure its not their favorite religious sect.  I'm sure the hospital will claim (are claiming) that they have the right to refuse any elective (cosmetic) procedures, without violating either the Unhru or Burton Acts.  Its not like its the only hospital in the area either.

Here's my response to this people:
These things are blogs.

You can register if you want, and post a comment.

I did.

That is a very effective way to get a different opinion heard on those sites.

They are open forum.

All you have to do to comment on that site is register with a username and email.

So do it!

Let them hear what others have to say on the subject.

I personally think that referring to transsexuals as, "sickos" in a professional article is a suable offense.  If I had any kind of financial stability I'd go for it.

You can't, its covered by the First Amendment.  Second, its not a professional deal, its a right wing blog.

There's nothing that says we can't register on the blog and take over the commentary. :icon_razz:

First Ammendment bull->-bleeped-<-, they're expressing radical opinions that are detrimental to the mental health of thousands, as well as supporting an image of transsexuals being negative.  If they posted an article saying, "->-bleeped-<- sicko sues hospital" then that site would be closed down and the publishers behind bars within the week.  Effing double standards.

Here is the trouble with that thought.  They think the same about you.  If you start shutting down sites because someone don't like them, sites like this are the first to go, and sites like that will be the last.

Oooooh... yummie case.  I love the ramifications in this one.  A victory in this could help solidify transition surgeries as a medical necessity.  I do hope that she wins.
