I'm not transgendered, but I am doing a report on it for school. I have no clue how to even begin, because I don't understand it. I'd like to understand more, but I don't. Can anyone here help me?
Here's some questions I have:
What's it like to be transgendered?
Do you get resentment from others?
Can people tell just by looking at you?
Are there any particular stories that you would like to share?

I'm also supposed to find some sort of personal narrative about someone who is transgendered. So if anyone would like to share a short personal story that I can use that'd be great.

Take care

I'd suggest reading around the site for information. Read the rules. And, in your case, I'd also suggest that you request the permission of anyone who has posted a personal story to use it for your paper.

There are also a number of other informative sites around the web. I suggest googling for "FtM" or "MtF", not "transsexual". The latter will get you too many porno sites.

Unless you use a filter on the search site to eliminate much porn.  Filters for porn can usually be found in the Advanced Search sections of a few sites.

You pretty much become a third class citizen.  In many places you can be openly discriminated against with very little legal recourse.  Transgendered people have been killed and their killers set free.  In at least one instant one was allowed to bleed to death while the paramedics made jokes about her.

However, you also have the chance to get to know what it is like in both worlds.  I never really understood either gender but I fit in much better as a woman.

It is also very expensive.  Endoc visits, blood work, hormones, surgery...

Do you get resentment from others?

A few who know that I am TS (I transitioned in place).  I lost all of two friends (never had many as a guy) and there are some people at work who will not look nor speak to me.  This is fine for me because I did not like any of them prior to transition.

Those who do read me...their reactions go from indifference to amusement.  No bible types have offered me "literature" in some time nor approached me about praying for my soul.

Can people tell just by looking at you?

Most do not seem to and there will always be someone who can read you.  They may know another TS or just pick up on something.  Best thing is to not worry about it unless someone confronts you.

Are there any particular stories that you would like to share?

Not really.
