Hazumu

Hello, I'm Hazumu, a Japanese cartoon character -- or at least that's the scren name I chose when I joined this board.  At that time I hadn't yet picked or discovered my new name, and using the name of a character who was transformed by space aliens from a boy into a 100% from-the-DNA-out girl, seemed like a good choice.

Thank you for making Hazumu welcome.  I'll continue to use "Hazumu" or "Haz" (Thank you, Terri Gene, for the nickname  ;) ), but I'll also start using my chosen name--

Hello everybody!  I'm Karen.  My middle name is Janet.  When I'm further along in my transition and further away from my soon-to-be former male self, I'll reveal my family name (it's still too tied to the male self right now.)

So, where's the coffee, snacky foods and bathrooms in this joint?

Re-Welcome, Karen!

I like the new name.

Hazumu is nice too but Haz?  I'm not so sure about.  But, to each their own and Haz does require less keystrokes, so again,

ReWelcome, Haz/Karen!

Hey Haz do you still have the name, address and phone number of those space aliens.  I'm thinking it would be a whole lot cheaper, quicker, maybe an even painless way to go :)

If only... :)

Ok, nice try, re-welcomes count as welcomes so that's two welcomes for you, now cut it out you're only allowed one, try it again and we'll have to bop you one on the noggin :)  Ooooop's wrong web site :)  Juuuuuuuuuust kidding.

Karen is a nice name.  Is their any significance to it other than you like it, after all that's all that really matters.

Ok, I have to lay down for a spell and dream of aliens.

Funny you should ask.  I got a list of age-appropriate names, meaning they were common for kids my age.  I started reading them, seeing which ones resonated.  I narrowed the list down to about 5 that seemed to want to pass the audition.

Karen won.  It has a bit of alliteration with my boy-name, without being obvious.  It's definitely female, as a clue over the phone if my female voice is ambiguous (Hi!  This is Karen...)  And it's plain, unlike my unusual boy name.  As my therapist said, my boy name is to a bully what waving a red cape is to a bull.

And I'm starting to get packages addresed to the Karen-me, and I can't keep from smiling when I see the mailing label ;D

Thanks, scott/mortiis29;

Any particular reason you chose Moro from Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke) as your icon?

I'm a BIG fan of Miyazaki and his power-female characters.

Hi Karen, I just recently saw Mononoke, and loved Moro!
And, it was in the list of icons to choose from under animation!
