Do video games provide a clue that you are truly "female" brained?

I have never liked playing video games and growing up I could not understand the
fascination of them by my friends. I never thought it might be related to TS until
I saw this video today.

Male brains seem to get addicted to video games whereas female brains do not.

The only games I ever really enjoyed playing were story-type games. Roleplaying games, basically. My brother made me try everything from Doom to Quake to Starcraft to whatever, but it was Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights all the way for me. I kinda completely lost interest around the time I left university though, which is a good 5 or 6 years.

I have been playing video games since I was young, still do it on the Pc online too but yet I still literally everyone that meets me  says I radiate something feminine; my gestures, voice, interests ( child care- Im actually good at it, fashion, non-sports, wicca, all my friends are female except for my male brother who I play games with

So what makes that me then?

PS: One of my gaming friends online is a girly girl who has a daughter and works at a hospital and says she still plays too much WoW. We both play healer "classes"more though, shes a Priest and Im a Druid...something gaming girls do more often than guys playing percentage wise. Pet classes are very popular with girls too. Lumbering warriors are the least..

I met maybe 2 warrior girls too...but I met alot more hunters, priests, druids and paladins

Its good there are exceptions though...I personally get a little sick of seeing yet another girl in a healing *nurture* role/class and want to see more ladies doing hurtful things

But I dont think it will ever be 50/50

*shrug* Most of the gamer girls I've talked with prefer warrior classes or shooting games.

Guess a lot of it just depends on experiences.

I like to play games sometimes.  Most of mine sit on the shelf collecting dust. 
I am pretty far from addicted.  I may have periods where I like to buy them.  But as it stands I may play a video game every few weeks for maybe a couple of hours.  Kind of a way to waste time more then anything.  For the most part I sometimes do it, but pretty rarely.

I never really saw the point in the addicting games like WoW and Halo.  Not much of a point to me. 
Its a fun thing to do on occasion.  But far from something to do everyday for hours on end.  I rather sleep personally.

I loved to play video games and I do admit that but I do not think it has anthing to do with my brain getting "addicted" to them really. I used to play games to feel better, I would ALWAYS play as a female character when that option was availible and if choosing your friends in the game was an availible option in the game they would always be female friends. Really, I used it as a way to make myself happy and to escape reality in a sense... I did the same with computers. I would also sometimes play violent games like "Halo" or games where you could pick how you wanted you character to be (ie good or evil, boy or girl, ect.) like "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" to vent my anger and frustrations.

After I went on HRT that stopped in literally the first week of HRT, I just lost all interest in them and really it's amazing considering if you knew me I use to spend 75% or more of my time playing them. When I got on HRT though they seemed not as exciting nor as enjoyable and really overall I just did not need them anymore.

Anyway that's my experience.

Playing a game was mostly an escape for me too....but I only got more frustrated

I still have issues with playing female characters, I mostly have female ones, they make me uncomfortable in a different way than the male characters I have

I've always been interested in strategy games but no one has ever really made any good ones that I know of for the computer.

I've always liked SimCity, RailBarron and the rollercoaster games, but that about it.  I've had a computer since 1984 (Trash 80) and I've never been into the game aspect.

i like games, rts,fps and mmorpg<my favorite by far. i do liek the stero typicaly male shooters but by far prefer online rpgs. tend to play healers and hunter styled classes better and enjoy them more

I dont know how to vote... when I was younger Id play video games as an escape and as a way to vent my entirely too destructive tendencies... I played constantly every chance I got... and if it wasnt a video game, it was an IRC-RPG...

Then it happened...

I had just bought a PS 2 and Grand theft auto san andreas<sp?> was still a "New" game...

2 weeks later I bent over and felt a sharp pain in my behind... I had started HRT...  with in a few days I lost allmost ALL interest in playing video games... Dont know why...  I think Ive only played a few dozen hours of games sence... and thats only because I had absolutely nothing else to do but sleep....   Go figure...

I think sometime on HRT you can get facial changes(it really does happen).

I think it has more to do with the culture and the type of games.

Initially it was seen as as socially backward to play video games
and sign of geekyness. So, culturally women were not interested.

Women are more social so its logical that they would be interested
with games with a more social component rather than a violence
competition component.

The universe type role playing games are getting bigger and bigger
and in the younger crowd have more and more women playing.

I've seen as many women addicted to games like WII which
have a much more social component than in games that
you can play alone.
