Do video games provide a clue that you are truly "female" brained?

all the way too doom . but then i got hook on guild wars . and after i got to playing guild wars. that was

*shrugs* I don't play video games. I don't own a system. My roommate wants to get a PS2, although. My last roommate got one and we played it a couple of times, but that's it... we didn't sit in front of the TV playing for yours. Yet, I know guys who can do that. I get bored with the games eventually, and I also like different type of games, and usually short, every once and a while things -- although, i love social type of games, where at least two or a group of people can play.

At my old place, we'd generally only play the PS2 when people were over, and we'd have turns playing some fighting game.

I used to play video games a couple years ago, but haven't played them for a while.  I don't know, they just aren't really fun to me.  Guitar hero was actually pretty cool, but I've only played it like twice.  A lot of my friends love games and they don't understand me and I don't understand them   I mean, I just figure there's always something better to do, but I know that's not always true.  Just a personal preference really not to play them.  I don't think it has anything to do with what you "'truly" are in my opinion.  But again I'm no expert, just stating my opinion.

shocked to see the numbers if the gameing companys was to keep track of it

I used to play 70+ hours a week of games, now I play much less, but I still play often enough. I like videogame RPGs (role-playing games) like, I have no experience with table-top (D&D for example), some puzzle games, some shmup* games and maybe a few racing games. Some platform games. I abhor first-person shooting games.

*shmup = shoot them up -and that's not a first-person shooter, that's those old-school games where you're a small spaceship in the sky/space and you shoot enemies all over the screen while avoiding being killed. Examples include Gradius, 1942, Starsoldier, Starforce, Section Z, TwinBee, Shikigami castle and DoDon Pashi Daioujou.

Puzzle games I like include mainly Bust-a-Move series games with Bub and Bob, they're more exciting than Tetris anyway. And old game of the genre, besides Tetris, would be Flipull, or Puzznic.

Platform games include Super Mario series, MegaMan series, Adventure Island series, Ninja Gaiden (old series) and such. I usually stick within a series and don't like them all...though platform were probably some of the most widespread 2d side-scrolling genre.

I tried a few FPS, and couldn't even stand to play 10 minutes. The only one I even liked is Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus - and that's because I'm an unconditional Final Fantasy fan I had to beat it. My brother is about 10x better than me.

Oh my goodness.  Guild Wars!  I used to nothing but PvE (for those of you not familiar with the lingo that's Player versus Environment).  But the environment becomes a little predictable.  I fell in love with PvP (player versus player).  I like to do the Random Arenas to see all the crazy things people come up with but mostly I like kicking a** and taking names.  As far as the profession I play, its a melee ranger wielding a scythe.  Guild Wars FTW!

I can tell you that playing video games has NOTHING to do with gender. I know serious gamer girls (GG's) who will kick ANY guys' behinds in FPS (first person shooters). I've played shooter games against girl gamer clans (Frag Dolls, PMS, etc) and they are young, typically attractive and they play video games extremely well. Many of them play for 6-8 hours a day. They take it as seriously as guys.

With that said, maybe there is something to the actual "addiction" part of gender, I don't know. I don't really believe in gender markers like "omg, I can't play video games anymore, that's too boyish" or "no, I don't listen to that kind of music" etc. You are who you are. I used to play video games somewhat moderately pre-transition, but I know I was doing it just to avoid really coming to terms with things. It's been a year and half or two years since I really played my XB360. If I have a friend over and they want to play, I'll play with them (and usually win, lol) but when they leave, the system doesn't really come back on. Just lost interest in it for some reason. Same kinda thing for me. I lived vicariously through the characters I created and chose to ignore real life by doing so. Once I started transitioning, my motivation for gaming just, well, evaporated. I enjoy tabletop RPG's a lot more now, simply because of the social side of it...

Not to mention the possibility of bumping into Vin Diesel at a gaming convention. Poster-boy for gaming geeks! And not at all unsightly.

I'm a huge gamer! I always have been. I'm part of MLG (www.mlgpro.com) and placed 26th in Halo 2 in Las Vegas. I'm a member of the IDGA (www.igda.org) and have been writing my own games since middle school! Games are my passion and I'm looking to work for a game company once my degree is finished. It's true that the games industry is a male dominated market both in employment and in actual customers but that stereotype is changing as people start realizing games aren't just for kids!

I was just recently at a Milwaukee WIN luncheon and the Madison game studio Big Rooster (http://www.big-rooster.com) said specifically they are looking to hire female employees because... they're entire studio is male! x3 They just don't get that many resumes from women. So if you're out there and in the Wisconsin area there are opportunities. Below are some cool links.
