im am female and there is no denying that, and i play video games. I dont get addicted mind you, i just play em when im in the mood, play violin here and there, surf the net, i vary it or it gets boring. But to generalize that women like games less or get addicted to them less, that is a gross miscalculation. There are fewer women gamers because that is what society depicts, men play video games, women do fashion, and there are too many girls trying to fit into social norms. Ive met many women who play warrior types, healers, a whole slew of different types, we are all different, and to make generalizations like this is kind of silly, or even to study it just seems silly and pointless. We are all different and we all do different things, and our gender these days usually has little to do with it, because the gender lines are getting closer together every year.
I am also a Comp Sci major with the intention to go into game design, i have fun with them, I play role playing games, strategy games (whoever said they havent found any good strategy games is sheltered, i can name a ton off the top of my head, Civilization II test of time, Age of Empires 2, Warhammer 40k Dawn of war (and its accompanying expansions), Starcraft (best ever, especially after the brood war expansion),Age of Empires (cheesey but awesome), Age of Mythology, Kingdoms) the list goes on. I do play the occasional first person shooter, but they are rarely fun in solo mode and all the cheaters online, and the gamer kids who just badmouth everyone are annoying so i avoid them usually, they are just not fun that often except with close friends.
