Sperm Banks

Ok, I never was all that worried about sperm before. This changed after meeting my girlfriend, now I don't believe in love at first sight, but i'm sure that we will be together for awhile.

So as such, one of the things she asked me was if I had the ability to produce sperm still. I explained that as far as I know i'm sterile due to the HRT. I had heard stories of transsexuals going off HRT temporarily to produce children, then going back on.

But I don't know if this is true. I also don't know what is involved with storing sperm, or even if there is an upkeep cost. Does anyone know?

Im not sure on the cost anymore...  When My ex and I went to a sperm bank to you know, deposit some in the savings account, we found out I was already sterile...  Which was a massive blow since I hadnt started HRT at the time 

But if youve been on HRT for too long, chances are youll never properly re-verilize... 6 months on, and you stop, you can return to full function quickly... at the year mark theres a chance of regaining function but its slim.... 2 years or more... either addoption or look into genetic engineering...

Search online to see if there is a facility near you, they might post their fees on their website.  I spent all of about 10 minutes looking into it a couple months back...so I didn't exactly shop around or anything.  But, from what I remember the upfront cost was close to $1000, and the storage was somewhere between $300-$400 per year, per specimen.  And there isn't exactly a guarantee that it will be viable, but...it's kinda hard to put a value on...

That's ironic since they'll pay you to donate your soldiers.  But if you want to have a sample for yourself you have to pay loads for it.  That really stinks, but I guess generic banking wouldn't be that bad.  At least I'd know I'm still in the gene pool somehow.  There are so many children that need to be adopted that that's probably what I'll end up doing.

I was actually wondering this myself; Serra started her HRT and we have talked about our future, which looks very strong, and I love kids and want to have some in the future.

How definitive is that? I'm waiting to talk to my doctor next week, but I have heard of cases of transsexuals stopping HRT to have their kids. This was either conceiving or carrying them.

At a certian point, and its diffrent for everyone, your supposed to become perminantly sterile/infertile when on HRT...

Im not sure the point for FTM's but for MtFs its a 6month to 1 year period on avrage...  I guess there could be some exceptions... but between E and AA's you pretty much perminantly damage your reproductive organs at some point.
