Modern marketing of fantasy.

nope.

Formula One ... *blech*
Rugby ... *groan*
Football ... *yeeesh*

Pretty-much the only stuff I enjoy is Gymnastics, the more acrobatic Martial Arts, and Dance. If Yoga were a sport, I'd probably like that too.

Hey I like Formula One. kind of fond of Indy Car and CART too.  NASCAR not so much, not for the image, but for those Restrictor Plates and the fact that they don't really race true stock cars anymore.  I try to go down to Monterey to Laguana Seca every year for the classic Grand Prix, where they race all the vintage cars.  Just hanging out on a street corner is pretty cool.

That's fine hon. You're more than welcome to join my dad and my brother sitting in front of the TV watching cars go in circles for three hours.

"But I watch it for the crashes..." my dad always says.

... why?

Oh on TV its boring.  Never watch it.  Never watch anything on TV outside of HBO movies anyway.  Not much for mind control.

IRL however - Sitting on turn 4 at Daytona, or coming out of turn two heading down the back straight at Indy - its the power and the glory.

ok, ladies, up until i was 16 i didn't like nascar either, i was always like what the hell is it with abunch of guys driving really fast in circles, but actually since i have started following it as my father in law and wife are very avid fans, my sister actually got to meet Kasey Kahne. oh did they make her whole life...lol. i understand now they go really fast, its points, its to see who has the best car between ford, dodge, toyota, and chevrolet. plus a lot of the indy guys and some f1 guys have crossed over to nascar like those of you familiar with Sam Hornisch, Jr. oh and then not every track they go to is just a circle, some are ovals, and we have some road courses. it's always fun to see how in the hell they fit 43 cars into a quartermile track and then race for 500 miles. but i understand sports isn't for everybody...lol. they have changed the design of the cars this year to make them safer and Daytona was probably the best it's ever been, non-stop action for 500 miles, cars side by side nearly the whole time.

WWE, you have to pick and choose when you watch and who you watch. i've seen some pretty amazing athleticism performed by some of these superstars. and yes, for those who don't know there are divas and they do wrestle, and nearly all of them have wrestled men too, poor girls.

thanks for posting.......continue please.....

Ive never been into nascar... but I used to avidly watch the WWE...  though the last few years I'll only go watch the major paperviews with my friends <its a social thing>  And yeas, some of the feats they pull are increadable....  they may not be "Real" wrestlers, but they are awsome stunt men and women...

The staging is pretty awesome too.

So Tekla, who is your favourite F1 team/driver then? Didn't think Americans really followed it.

Unfortunately, growing up in a sport-crazy household, my poor mom and I know more about the subject than we'd like to...

As a kid it was Colin Chapman and Team Lotus.  Later it was Michael Schumacher and the Ferrari's.  Hard to argue with a good Ferrari running flat out.

My brother and a couple friends are really into UFC.  So I've been dragged to a couple of nights to watch that.  It's actually pretty entertaining stuff, but not my niche for something I'd actually want to watch on my own.

As for nascar and the wwe, I've never really been into that either.  I don't know why, just always seemed boring to me I guess.  Of course, a lot of people are into nascar around here, wwe not so much that I hear about from people.

I used to follow F1 racing, somewhat in 1996, a lot in 1997, somewhat in 1998, barely in 1999, then lost interest totally.

1997 is when Jacques Villeneuve was world champ, he's from Canada :P

If I watched the races, it was only to watch him, if he crashed and abandoned, I just went off "screw that" and didn't watch how it ended.

Hell yeah, what self respecting Red Neck Girl don't get into NASCAR & WWE; who is your favorite driver? I like Dale JR. (88) & of course I followed his dad when he was still with us (3).

Finally, an important topic!!! Thanks, Mickie.

Grew up with people who thought NASCAR was da bomb, Bristol had two races per year.

And my kids loved WWF (at that time) and watched it 3-4 times per week back in the days when I still allowed TV in the house. All those over-muscled and oiled male bodies. *smile*

My partner used to travel around the country going to see WWF/E -- even had tickets for a few of the Wrestlemanias.

no problem Nichole, i didn't think i was the only girl on here that found this interesting. And of course my favorite drivers are Dale Jr. and Kasey Kahne, he should have listened to me (and every other fan) when he won six races back in 04 and no championship, he should have left then. he started off well with HEndrick, so i am hoping he has at least a way better year than last.

Yes, but I could never wrap my heart or mind around either car-racing or professional wrestling.

Truth to tell I am just glad to see a topic getting some responses and its not about bathrooms or 'passing!' :)

I only went to Bristol to shop, they had the first area mall and I never have seen a car-race or the Spring Nationals drag race they had in Bristol. Cannot imagine the excitement of watching people drive round and round -- although New Jersey traffic circles can be pretty exciting!!

Never got the WWF deal, except for the staging - but as a california girl, I do love a fast car.
