A friend sent this while I was counting down the days to my return from Thailand. These are items that those who are post op or who will be post op should be aware of:
QuoteI will recommend a couple things to you for when you get back home.
Charmin Ultra Soft toilet paper -- it doesn't pill very much, your fingers don't go through it, and you can use significantly less. This is a bit more expensive than some other brands, but it's WELL worth it!
Uh-huh! The cheap stuff and that which is supplied in public restrooms has a disconcerting habit of turning to sticky mush on contact with liquid. Did I say 'adhesive'? Just four sheets of this, though, folded, is enough to perform all blotting duties (I'm a folder, not a wadder...)
QuoteCottonelle Personal Wipes -- they help a lot keeping things clean and nice down there and they're flushable as well.
Tried them. Tubs are now stationed at all regularly used voiding-stations, and a travel pack is in my purse.
QuoteCarefree Panty Shields (Long) - These also help keep things nice and non-smelly. Note the size, as they'll fit a whole lot better.
Let's face it, the cleft of a post-op trans-woman is extra, extra long. I haven't found anything else yet that doesn't leave bits exposed. And these're less expensive than other brands.
QuoteVagisil Intimate Lubricant - Forget the Astroglide or any of that other garbage. This feels like normal moisture and really helps with dilation. And you don't feel so gooped up afterward.
Haven't tried it yet, it never seems to be where I'm looking (but I can find the anti-fungal product easily.) Passed on for consideration.
QuotePro-Gest Body Cream - Find this one at a health food store. This gives you two benefits, the first of which is the natural progesterone which will definitely help your body. The second is it is a nice lubricant for your whole vagina. Insert a gram or so before you go to bed if you dilate in the morning or even 20 minutes before dilation.
This also is passed on. I'm sure there's debate about using a hormone-containing product. I'll leave others to talk to this.
That's it, for now. I'd love to see other bits of advice for the care and upkeep of our aftermarket modifications
