I had a most interesting experience a few minutes ago... I had to go up to the convenience store around the corner, so I threw on a t-shirt & jeans, my Newport wedges, and grabbed my purse. I had just the slightest bit of makeup on from earlier in the day, and no wig, just my own fairly longish hair. I mean, I was just going to the convenience store, right?

Anyway, I got what I came for and went to the register. I had to wait for a moment, as there was a guy in front of me buying a lottery ticket. As I stepped up to the counter, I noticed Mr. Lotto giving me the up-and-down, but didn't think much of it.

As I walked out the door, there he was, obviously waiting for me to come out. I thought sure it was time for some sort of confrontation, and was hoping it wouldn't be too unpleasant. To my surprise, he said, "Hey, baby, how's it going today?" I smiled to myself, said "Oh, not too bad", and continued walking. He didn't give up, though... "Hey, come back! I'd like to get to know you!" Positively grinning now, I muttered something like "Sorry, I have to get home", and kept going.

I know, it's just the typical sort of thing that women go through all the time, but I couldn't help getting a real kick out of it! I wasn't trying particularly hard to pass (I looked pretty androgynous, really), and he didn't seem to be either blind or inebriated. I wore a huge smile all the way home!

I get "ma'amed" in guy mode on occasion, and pass reasonably well when I really try, but this was new, getting hit on at the convenience store!

:) Aren't convenience stores convenient :)

See all we have to be is ourselves, and things will fall into place.  Well most of the time...  :-\
