I went to Paris, TN today which is about an hour drive from my house. I was supposed to have a computer to repair waiting on me at the main office. It turned out however, that someone else at the office worked on it and sent it out the door. For which I was properly appreciative. I also had to pick up my pay which is always a good thing instead of a bad one. Much better than those pesky bills I keep finding in my mailbox. Anyway. I basically ended up going to get paid, eating lunch with co-workers, and then drive for another hour back home.
On the way home for some unknown reason I decided it was time for me to see several of the movies I have been wanting to see. They are in no specific order Star Trek Nemesis, The Two Towers, and either Die another day or Two weeks Notice (Which looks very romantic). Well by the time I arrived back in Clarksville it was seven PM and thus it was too late to drive the forty five minutes to Nashville. Why after driving for two hours during the day would I want to drive another one and a half hours round trip to see a movie you ask? Well the answer is simple the two local theaters for the town of one hundred thousand I live in bite. There's no stadium tiered seating, cramped leg room, crappy sound, limited parking space, small screens, sticky floors, and are way over crowded. If a Regal Cinemas ever opens up in Clarksville it is going to kill the existing theaters rake in a ton of money. One is supposed to be built here in the next year but they have not as of yet broken the ground on it.
The current theater of choice for me is the Regal Cinemas in the Opry Mills mall. Opry Mills used to be Opry Land what was a pretty good amusement park. But why would anyone want to waste space with an amusement park. When it was clear to the accountants that the land could better bring in year round cash in the form of rent and leases.
Anyway back to the subject at hand. Since it was too late to continue on to Nashville I decided to drive by the local theater which had the movies I wanted to see showing. Well needless to say all of my worst fears were promptly confirmed. The parking lot was wall to wall cars. There was a line out the front door and based on the number of cars present all 8 theaters must have been sold out. In the end I decided to skip the movies tonight and to get up early tomorrow and make a day out of going to the movies! I will discuss my choices and opinions of what I watch tomorrow evening.
