I'm absolutely speechless!

Ms Bev

It started almost a week ago, on a nice balmy, sunny Spring day, as I was having one of my better days selling.  I sold well to the men, and captured the hearts of the women.  Everything was groovy, when suddenly........there was a twinge.  That twinge became an irritation, which I can usually just ignore, and get over.  But, after ignoring this as long as I could, I heard a horrifying sound.

A voice not unlike Marge Simpson's voice escaped my lips.  How embarrassing, to suddenly have the voice of Marge Simpson rattling from my throat during a busy sales day!  There was nothing I could do but tough it out, and explain to customers that I had a sore throat.  My arduously trained feminine voice had let me down.

Actually, I let IT down, because I should not have strained through that day, laughing and talking like a m->-bleeped-<-ie.  I should have recognized the first symptoms of 'Marge voice', and dropped my primary pitch by a note or so.  I would have been far better off sounding like Lauren Bacall, than Marge Simpson.

I went home, upset that Beverly's voice had gone AWOL, and rested up for work the following day.  That, was a second mistake.  I should have taken off sick right then and there, and rested Bev's voice, but nooo.  Finances have been tight, and I just had to get out there, Marge voice or not.

The next day, I was at the doctors, and he examined my throat.  I've known this doctor many years, and only this once, did I see him wince as he scanned my ravaged vocal folds.  Laryngitis, and bronchitis.  Ten days of antibiotics, three more days off work, and REST MY VOICE.

That's why I'm here at this time of day.  I'm resting my voice.  I have to, or I might damage it.  I think any amount of monetary loss I incur over these few days is nothing, compared to damaging the voice of Beverly forever.  So, here I sit......speechless.  *sigh*

I hope you get better sooner rather than later.

Take care of yourself.

Thanks very much.  Today has been 6 long days, and today is the first day that I can use my voice as Beverly,  though a little raspy.  I used it only at the supermarket, while having a coke with  Marcy at Macdonald's late in the day, and tonight at the nail salon.  I will never, never, never let this happen again.  I think I'm okay for work tomorrow, but I'll take it easy.  Then I suppose in a few more days I wil be back to normal.  That's a long time to be without a proper female voice.
Thanks for your concern!

Hugs around,

Bev

Gosh, I guess this is also what all those singers who actually SING instead of fiddling around w/ a computer feel like from time to time.

I hope you can poor some honey down your throat and chill out, it's good to relax sometimes.
