The theater items you have to be careful with. Stupple is used in theater and at a distance looks great, especially if you use a stupple sponge to blot it on. I used it once for a DL photo (and managed to get an M for gender, wish it had of lasted). If you use spirit gum and crepe hair it's really hard to make it look good without a lot of practice and making sure you iron out the crepe hair. Up close you can tell both are fake.
On the flip side of this, there are theater places who sell facial hair pieces made of real hair and you use spirit gum to adhere them to your face. I have never personally tried on or know how well they work. I used to do a lot of behind the scenes work in theater when I was young and wish we had of had a need for the facial hair so I could see how it worked. I think we did once, but the director used the cheap stuff since we were on a budget. Cheap as in halloween type facial hair.
