Jamie Lauren

A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
[/size]

Hello, my name is Jamie Lauren Wyrick. It is my hope to one day be a published author. Each day, I work a bit more on giving this hope substance.

I write mainly in the fantasy and science fiction genre, but I believe that no writer should consider themselves a true author until they have mastered, or at least, come to gripes with their abilities and stretched their imaginations as far as their limits will allow. In time I hope to show some examples of my poetry, manuscripts, and even a few of the comic strips I've developed over the years.

Some may ask, why bother to write? For me, the answer is simple, writing and the whole process of creating something from the innermost depths of my own imagination that others will find enjoyable, or chuckle about, or even return to read again and again, is great fun! I suppose that it could also be said, writing is part of who I am. Okay, I admit there are days I want to bang my head bloody against a wall when something interferes with my getting to write. As I'm prone to sometimes say: "Some days the litterbox is just too full to hold anything else!" But I still love to write. "So I write."

My tastes in reading runs to anything that interests me, from the more serious, to the genre of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. My favorite author's while growing up included such greats as, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Robert Heinlein, Jack Vance, Lester Del Rey, Issac Asimov, Lin Carter, and many others. I often wished I could write as wonderfully entertaining, creatively and imaginatively as they. I have not had anything I've written published. So the internet has provided me a wonderful medium to play in.

I currently reside in San Antonio, Texas with my roommate and best friend, and our two cats.

I certainly love getting fan mail! So if you want to post a response, I'd love to read your comments, good and bad for the site and my writing. However, I really hope you won't send me any mean ones.

Hi Jamie,

Iam also a big fan of Science Fantasy especially the works of Raymond E Fiest and Janny Wurtz so reading some of your writings would be a pleasure. I have just completed a MEd (hons) so the reading Fantasy is my escape. I do however understand the attachment to writing even if my efforts have been only academic. I have also had people ask me why I do it. I say some people fly kites, some people fish and I endulge in study. Each to their own I reckon and if there is one thing I have learnt about this warm and inviting place it is we are welcome for who we are and not want other people want us to be.

Hi Jamie;
So, do you have anything published on the web, and if so, where?  I read like crazy, and will be more than happy to give you a constructive critique of your writing.  I've also been known to do a tad bit of editing here and yon.  If I can help out in any way, even it it's just talking, please don't hesitate to let me know.
