Just an update of sorts for those that may be interested.

For a bit of backstory, I had a metoid (release only) with implants with Dr. Bowers in early March. I received 'large' implants and had some complications as a result. This led to extreme depression about the results overall and my desire to have it 'reversed'. I spoke with Dr. Bowers at length, she took a look at the results and agreed the implants were far too large. I was very stressed about the entire ordeal, fearing what she'd think and what would happen. Having seen military doctors all my life (I had seizures as a child/teen), I find doctors, in general, to be intimidating. She was kind of standoffish at first, but once we spoke and heard each others' views, she became far more understanding and personable. I think there's such a huge variation between how F2Ms and M2Fs view surgeries, and transition in general...so it was nice to share that so she could understand me better.

I am very happy to say that the implants were taken out last Tuesday under local anesthesia in Dr. Bowers' office (I only live 1 1/2 hours away from Dr. Bowers' office so I didn't have to stay longer than the office visit to have it done either). What a relief. Those suckers were HUGE (think...jumbo egg with the hardness of a rock) and I'm hoping they weren't in long enough to have 'stretched' things out (think...atrophied scrotum...ew). Per my agreement with Dr. Bowers and my therapist, I'm waiting a month before discussing any further actions taken in regards to my crotch region...I have to wait for the swelling to go down to see if things will now 'lay' correctly when flaccid, or if I'll continue to walk around with my wang jutting out as though I have a semi (which is highly uncomfortable, let me tell you).

And just so this isn't just a 'me' post, I do want to say if any guys are considering having implants with Dr. Bowers, she will no longer be ordering the large sized implants due to the common occurrence of complications. This situation has been a learning process not only for me, but for her as well (per her own words). A larger sized implant isn't practical because it takes time for the skin to stretch...and in the meantime those large, hard implants will be right up against your body (and in my case not heal accordingly, and instead wind up -between- your legs instead of infront of them, hindering walking/sitting/ect.). The larger implants also make the penis look even smaller in comparison and there's less chance of extrusion with smaller ones.

Also.. Dr. Bowers will be watching Dr. Reed perform some metoids and perhaps pick up on his technique for doing urinary hook-ups (though I wouldn't expect her to offer it anytime in the near future---the risks/complications keep her from performing that aspect of a metoid).

I got to learn about a possible transgender institute in CA where some big name SRS surgeons may come together in one location to offer their services too.  That got me thinking...wouldn't it be great if there was a TG network of people, who lived close to SRS surgeons, who could open their homes temporarily for free or very lost cost to the patients having surgery...so they could save some money on hotel costs? It's such a huge chunk of the surgery costs, especially for us guys. Just a thought...

But I digress...just wanted to update. Implants are out and my life is slowly getting back on track now, though I feel it won't be back to normal until this is all taken care of. I do have to say this entire ordeal has matured me, made me rethink labels, and myself.

Hey Discarded,

I'm glad to read that you and Dr. Bowers have been able to come to an agreement concerning your former lower surgery.
Good to hear that she is professional enough to learn from this, and that she will continue to educate herself.

And eh, I bet it's a relief that those big implants are removed from your body. When I read your first posts about this subject, I cringed with imagined pain from your description.

Take care,
PolarBear
