Epilating male chest hair.

Ow I so remember why I shave my chest, that was the most pain full thing ive done in a long time. OWWWW

I use to epilate my chest about 2 years ago and my wife asked me to stop. I did for a short period but I found it so anoying and heart breaking to have hair all over my body so went back to shaving it. Its funny how we have come full cirle, my wife has now told me to stop shaving and go back to the epilator.

I hope it gets easier.

I wanted to ask every one out there about the home laser kits, are  they any good, do they work or what?

please is it worth the £200 sterling it will cost me to get one....

I've read they are worthless.

I think for everyone it's different but HRT has really helped reduce the growth for me. I can go a week
or more now without shaving and the hair is very fine. I would like to get laser eventually but that is
fairly low on my priority list.

Every one I have heard of and researched has been junk. Word is they need a very special technique, and it is very time consuming. Most break before you get anywhere close to what you want.

I thought about an epilator on my chest, if only so it returns thinner, but even the thought of it hurts. It is definitely not like doing legs.

The tweezer ones are terrible and do little or nothing. You need a needle setup which is rare for home D.I.Y. kits. I know of one but it needs some work to be a really great machine. http://www.folica.com/removal/onetouch_homele.htm There is a guide on Geocities where a guy modified the heck out of it for under $100 and made it into a pro level machine. Still takes 2 people for most places.

I epilate using a Braun silk epil and the best investment (£60) I have ever made. I have used it for about six months every three days and now the hair is finer and much less dense. It did smart at first but after two of three times it gets easier because the hair is used to being pulled out. I highly recommend this great machine and no I don't own the company mores the pity, lol.

I use a Braun too the Silk-épil Xelle. I epilate my chest and parts of my arms, and did my cheeks once. It gets easier every time you epilate but I don't recommend it on the face that hurts very bad. It does break a few hairs but I like the thing anyways.

Tried epilating the chest, but wasn't satisfied with the results.  Just wax it for the first time today.

I'm going to need an epilator too and I can already tell it's going to hurt like heck.  I hate having chest hair and I don't want to have to go for a wax so the epilator seems like it's it for me.  Do you know if any stores sell them or do I have to order one online?

If there are any in your area, Maddie, Try Sally's Beauty Supply.  Also Walmart, Target and Walgreen's.

Most best drug stores will carry them, too.

I hate doing it above the knee caps. I can basically do my calves hurt-free, but the higher you get, the more painful its going to be...

I'm sad cause I think mine has a crappy battery. It doesn't turn green when its done charged so you have to time it and crap. Its SO stupid... Its like a battery killer. When I first got it it worked perfectly.

I have the braun silk epil xelle and when I first used it on my chest I said to myself never again.
But I'm happy to say I am a determined woman and gave it another go no matter how much it hurt.
I did my complete body excluding face and genitals w/ help from my girlfriend and until I can afford
professional hair removal I will continue using an epilator because the results for me were very good
compared to shaving and no razor burn. What helped me in the begining was to make sure the rotation
of the epilator is facing the same as the hair direction (less breakage and less pain). have a face cloth in ice
water, and only take a break if you just can't bear it, belive me it is easier to just keep going cause if you
take a break you won't want to start again. shave about a week or so before epilating or use a trimmer
the shorter the hair the less it breaks. right after I am done I use a good anti-bacterial cleanser on my skin
and a moisturizer that contains soy by Aveeno (claims it minimizes hair growth). Every 4-5 days I use
an oatmeal and honey exfoliant on my skin paying close attention to my legs (helps minimize ingrowns). The first time is the worst,
because due to shaving the hair is at its thickest. If done right the results are way better than shaving
once my hair has thinned some I will be adding a pore shrinking cream.

Good luck Lucy   Have you heard of nads? it's an Aussi gel product. A friend of mine recommended it for my legs & I'm quite happy with the results I've gotten. I haven't seen any hair for over three months.  Maybe it's nads or maybe the HRT, but they have lots of publicity here in the UK.  Haven't you watched it on the telly? you can use it on any part of your body.

about 2 weeks ago I epilated my chest and owie, I mean to say OMG that HURT!!  But none of it has grown back and that has me thinking that my 5 months on hrt has shut down growth in that area and I was just yanking hairs that were not doing anything till they would fall out on their own anyway.  Will I do it again if I have to, yes, but it shouldn't be as thick the next time.

How long did most people have to epilate their chest hair before it stopped breaking out/getting ingrown terribly?

I've done my legs and chest and while I'm still not totally happy with my legs and the amount of breakout, it has reduced quite a bit.  However I can't tell that the irritation is reducing at all with my chest hair.  And as odd as it sounds I'm having to epliate my chest every 2-3 days or its scratchy.  I can go a bit over a week with my legs, but the chest hair comes back fast (and hurts 3x as much).

I haven't had much of a problem with ingrown hair just a few at the beginning. Just make sure you scrub the skin with a loofah or something else like that the next day, if you have ache prone or even not make sure the skin is clean and dry, and check to see if your epliator pulls the hair completely out and not breaks the hair. That should help with the ingrowns. It took me about two months for my chest to get easier and I might get 1 or 2 bad hairs in a month that is for my chest and arms. I epliate once a week no matter if I need it or not.
