I won't disagree with the responses so far, but writing at 1:00 am, it would have been helpful if the writer had kept it as a draft for a day or so, use a spell checker and find a proof-reader. I'm not sure what the writer is trying to say, "about the creation of transsexualism". Since transsexualism is a creation of psychiatrists and psychologists to demonize a class of people as abnormal, it's history is documented. People don't think of themselves innately as transsexual, it's a label some (and I stress some as some don't) use for convenience. Everyone really thinks of themselves as a boy/man, girl/woman or some combination thereof. Not trans this or that.

I have come to hate that word autogynophilia with a passion. Don't much care for any type of labels but I guess that for as long as we live in a finite world with finite qualities and quantities of peaches and apples I guess we need labels to tell the difference between one variety and another. I like the word *trans*, it sounds kind of like something mysterious or something. Trans folks

The trouble with sociology, and psychology - and why they will never be true science - is that there never is, nor ever will be any sort of magic bullet one-stop shopping theory for any of this.  That Autogynophilia, gay-in-denial, or forced feminization by parents exists, and in some cases fits all -or at least part - of what is going in is true.  That's its true to some degree in some cases (though many others who are those things find totally different routes to pursue them on) does not make it true in all cases.  That I don't buy it, and I don't fit into any of the described categories is, I'm sure, also true.  For you, in your case and for your life, its does not mean that it never happened (or is not part of what is happening) to others.

Its not the theories that are bad, I'm pretty sure that each might well have a place.  Its the use of any one theory to explain all of it in everyone through all time - and that just ain't working.

That's its true to some degree in some cases (though many others who are those things find totally different routes to pursue them on) does not make it true in all cases.  That I don't buy it, and I don't fit into any of the described categories is, I'm sure, also true.  For you, in your case and for your life, its does not mean that it never happened (or is not part of what is happening) to others.

The sad part is that many are going to get hurt while they try to make this label fit all. I do dread the thoughts of what the results of that will be.

I agree. For two reasons:

1. The attacks on MtFs do not apply to FtMs or other transgendered people (fluid, androgyne, etc).
2. If the FtMs and/or other transgendered people have "valid" reasons, these reasons should apply to MtFs as well.

I've had people accuse FtMs of over compensating and wanting to be men because they feel women are weak. My gender identity has nothing to do with my supposed "weakness." And I love men. So I am not a lesbian trying to "ungay" myself. In fact, transition will make me legally gay, a struggle in most states in the US. And my patents did not try to influence my gender identity until AFTER I came out...

I HATE watching people attack transwomen. I absolutely hate it. Not a way to treat a woman.
