Well, I don't blubber over them, but I do watch lifetime movies if the subject matter interests me.
But it must be a true story, that or have Jenny Garth or Chandra West in it.
Mostly though, I watch Lifetime for the Unsolved Mysteries reruns.
Have you seen "In a Child's Name?" Positively chilling.

It's not nearly as disturbing that you like Lifetime as it is that I do. However, I lean more toward their movies inherited from the box offices, like Bastard Out of Carolina. Great film.

I think the Lifetime movies are too formulaic but every once in a while they put in a good one.  Usually I'm turned off in the first five or ten minutes.  There was one last night, though, about a serial killer and a single mom FBI agent chasing him that my wife and I watched (she LOVES LifetimeTV).  It was still a little predictable but it was good nonetheless.

Thanks Rafe. I was afraid I was the only guy out there that watches Lifetime. When my mom turns it on, my stepfather immediately finds some task requiring his attention in another room.

Not sure if this film was on the Lifetime channel or not, but I thought it was pretty entertaining.  It was called Live Nude Girls with Kim Catrell and was about a group of sorority girls getting together and dealing with their problems.  One girl had a jealous boyfriend that kept stalking her.  Kim Catrell's character was engaged to get married, but thought her fiance was cheating on her.  Another girl was a lesbian that had a live in girlfriend.  Lots of drama.  I thought it was entertaining.

Tell your SO that you wanna watch a Jackie Chan movie and then insert the movie Gorgeous (Bor Lei Jun) into the DVD player.  He is in it but it is a chick flick through and through.  Most people do not realise how versatile he is in the overseas market.  They are just used to the fighting stuff (which he mainly does).  And yes there are a couple of fighting scenes in the movie to keep the more action oriented fan a bit at ease.  However, it is mainly a romantic comedy.

Okay, but Lifetime aside, I'm a little unclear as to how certain films get categorized as "chick flicks". When Harry Met Sally, notorious for being one of the aforementioned films, is simply a story about love, and the twisted path it often takes. How does this get classified as feminine? Don't guys appreciate a good love story, too? I've met plenty of straight guys who do (myself among them, of course).

Depends on how much stuff is blown up in the "love" story.   

Anything that would be considered "not macho" is lumped as a chick flick.

Another that I liked was called "A mother's love" with the Terminator girl, Sarah Conner.. .what is her name.

So, I must admit, and this is not to guard my precious ego, but simply the sick, sad truth: I don't have to see anything blown up to enjoy a movie. But if there's no chick with a pretty face, there's gotta be violence, car chases, crime, or something otherwise intriguing for me to see the film. However, I went through a phase of watching nothing but Meg Ryan chick flicks... because I had a crush on Meg Ryan.

Just the sad truth.

I had a crush on Nicholas Cage....oops...wrong thread for this one!!  (actually now that I remember  he played an angel and Meg Ryan was in that movie too...the movie's name is "angels")  I really hated the end though when she gets run over by a truck and dies right after making love with the hansome cutie pie...lol

Hmn, one of the things I noticed in devouring Japanese anime was that I was gravitating to the Shoujou stuff (literally, 'young-girl').  Forget adolescent power fantasy, give me a good, old relational story.

I've listed some of the better stuff in the Anime thread I started, but watching Haibane Renme will cost you at least a half box of kleenex if you're susceptible to tears
