nasal spray?

I was thinking of making a nasal spray to deliver estrogens more effectively.

I know in europe it's becoming quite popular to deliver hormones via nasal spray.  It has all the benefits of bypassing the liver but you don't have to stick yourself or hold a bunch of stuff under your tongue for a long time.

But, a lot would drip down and be swallowed anyways... anyone know the ingredient they put in nasal sprays to make them stick?

K so I did some research.

For a medicine to be effective as a nasal spray, it has to be able to be absorbed through the nasal cavities.  Which means water soluable.  So I checked out all the estrogens, and there's only two, estrodiol hemihydrate(sp?) and premarin.  I've been experimenting with a saline/17Bestradiol spray I made and I don't think I'm doing much but wasting time.  Will try it w/ a water soluable estrogen and see if that makes any difference in how it gets absorbed into the body, overpassing the liver and the kidneys and such but without needles or patches.

You can also crush up estrace the pills into a very fine powder, make a line, and then sniff it up with a straw. The micronized estrace will dissolve into nasal cavities very quickly. You'll probably loose less of the estrogen (if any at all) and it will be more effective than a nasal spray, actually.

Do you have any experience doing this?

SEe I did the research and estrace(17Bestradiol) isn't water soluable, which means it doesn't get absorbed too well by the nasal cavities.  So it makes more since to do that with something like premarin.

No, I don't have experience with putting Estrace in my nose; however, a lot of drugs that go up the nose go into your blood system. Estrace is micronized estrodiol, which is why under the tongue it passes through the tissue and into your blood. *shrugs* just a theory.
