Hey all,

I don't know about the rest of you in other parts of the US, but here in the NE it has been raining constantly all summer long!  :o

We've had maybe a handful of days where it's been nice, but the vast majority of the time it's either raining constantly, or about to rain in the next five minutes.  Storm after storm rolls in, it's crazy.  Global warming, anyone?

Jenn

Jenn,

Not only has it been wet, this has to be the stormiest summer I have ever seen.  I have never seen hail fall so hard as to cover the ground like snow.  Hail the size of quarters and larger.  Not just once, but multiple times.  I know that this is not uncommon in the Midwest, but we just don't get that here in the Empire State - not multiple times.  And the storm system we had last week was a true Nor'easter.  Hail.  Waterspouts.  Rotating storm cells.  All the fun stuff.  I know the apple crop where i live has been seriously damaged due to the hail.  Other crops have been hurt just as bad.

You know, the meteorologist in me is wondering if this is the first sign that the weather patterns are shifting.  I have speculated that the reason we have not had more Katrina's & Rita's is that the weather patterns are shifting north.

I suspect that winter is going to be early and interesting.

I know what you mean Chaunte, that really bad storm rolled through my area last week, Holy Goddess, the thunder shook my building, I'm not even kidding.  The street out front flooded within like five minutes, cars were going by and sending up huge waves onto the sidewalks.  It was crazy.  If winter comes sooner, I'm going to be shocked because it gets really cold up here, like -20* and lower with the wind chill.  :o

I just took a look at the long-term forecast for temperature and precip.  It looks like warmer than normal temperatures but normal precip.  Since it's been so cloudy, Lake Ontario hasn't really warmed.  So, the precip prediction makes sense.  If the weather patterns are moving north, just speculation, then the tem[perature forecast also works.

wimpy stuff, I lived on the Great Plains for a long time.  And in the Cali mountains they get 60-80 feet (Yes FEET) of snow a year.
