in order not to hijack a thread
i have scurried here to ask for
more information regarding a
post i read.....  an admonition to
a younger member NOT to bind
developing breasts!

anybody here have information about that?

my lad has been wearing a binder for better
than half a year and only turned 15 last month!

if you knew me, and i told you i was trying not to freak,
you would start an office pool wondering how long THAT will last.....

with a fluttering heart!

I think any evidence about that is anecdotal at best. I wouldn't worry about it or suggest he stop doing it if he's more comfortable binding. Probably the worst that he might get is floppier manboobs than he would otherwise have had. I haven't heard of any actual health risks, provided that it's not crushing his ribs or making it hard to breathe.

Not sure what's wrong with floppier manboobs  or why people worry about something their going to remove anyways lol.  But as for floppy I've seen genetic men with them,  though yeh could be problem if get large.
Every day we pass people, do we see them or the mask they wear?
If you live under a mask long enough, does it eventually break or wear down?  Does it become part you?  Maybe alone, they are truly themselves?  Or maybe they have forgotten or buried themselves so long, they forget they are not a mask?

Hizmom...if you're referring to the post I think you are, it was directed at an MtF whose mother wants her to hide the breasts that HRT is causing her to develop, not an FtM. Your son might end up with some tissue damage from binding, but as long as he binds safely (i.e. Follows the rule "if it starts to hurt, stop or find a new method"), you shouldn't have to worry. The admonition to not bind was, in this case, given to someone who intends to keep her breasts, and therefore would want to keep them in good shape.

I started binding when I was 15, and now im eighteen and no damage(so far)

I'm with Dennis here.  I didn't "officially" bind when I was that young, but I wore multiple sports bras that were far too small because I hated the bounce, hated that they got in the way, etc.  I had no tissue damage from doing this from about age 14-19.  Make sure he's doing it correctly (i.e. with a binder that fits how it should, a frog bra, etc..) and I'm sure most things will be fine.  Make sure he does not sleep in his binder, however- this is a big no-no.

For me, personally, I don't find binding any more boob-crushing than a snug sports bra.  The only difference is it's a shirt that also keeps my gut in check.  ;D  If he follows the don't do it too tight rule he'll be okay.

My opinion is disliked by most transguys.

Binding is unhealthy. I don't like the idea.
However, if a guy has big boobs/is going to, it doesn't matter in the long run. His surgery won't be affected.
It's people with small chests like me who need to worry about that.

Really, Why?

Mister

It can lead to bronchitis, pneumonia or even sleep apnea.

Jack Daniels

Aww man....Im screwed...so very screwed
  •

Mister

you could always just, er, STOP :)
  •

Aiden

Why?  You don;t have to keep wearing it to bed
Every day we pass people, do we see them or the mask they wear?

I cant help it... Now I need to get that surgery as soon as possible
  •

Mister

wearing a tight sports bra or something is cool.  the problem is the full-torso compression of most binders.
  •

Aiden

How can you not help it.  just take it off before you go to bed.

.. Yeah, they don't bother me while I'm sleeping. I'd think binding at night would be pretty uncomfortable and hard to get to sleep at all.
