I really pity the daughter in all this.
Regardless of the Palin family stance, the daughter did not ask, nor did she expect to be put under the blinding light of worldwide scrutiny.
I can imagine all the back room discussions going on between the campaign organizers and the Palin family. It really isn't fair.
We should leave her alone.
However, the political issued raised by this, abstinence only vs education and condoms, will become magnified in the public consciousness. And in many ways may push the republicans off message. Causing them to talk about that when they may want to focus on more global issues.
I've thought about whether or not Palin would resign her candidacy, ala Eagleton, but in that case, the vetting process consisted of him being asked whether or not he had anything that he was ashamed of. And he was not ashamed of having had shock therapy to cure depression. Here, Palin was vetted more extensively, but I would have thought that the vetting would have also come up with the possible responses to any negative issues. I'd wager that she will not be asked to resign, nor will she offer her resignation.
