Witch Hazel as a Skin Toner?

I came across a reference in a book (Getting It by Alex Sanchez) that suggested using witch hazel as a "mild skin toner." No details were given to how this should be done, other than twice a day, after a "gentle foaming cleanser" and before an "oil-free moisturizer."

Has anyone experiemented with such a thing? I used the forum's Search function and found some results, but again the details seemed vague.

Would one apply the witch hazel with a cotton ball? Or, are there recommended products available? I've found recipes for homemade products involving witch hazel, but the exact usage info seemed unclear.

I've looked them up online, and it helps answer some questions.

But, their web site seems to be lacking some key information. Such as, where does one buy their products? I didn't see any links anywhere describing where or how one can buy their stuff. I guess I'll check local stores.

This is an old topic, but I still have something to add.. I hope it's still useful.. >.<

I used to put pure witch hazel on my pimples to make them go away faster. It worked, because it's very drying.  Moisturizing afterward sounds about right.

You can find bottles of witch hazel at any drug store.   It'll say witch hazel on it, and it's a clear liquid.  Looks like water.  If you're going to wash your face before using it, make sure it's a very, very mild cleanser.  You don't want your skin to get irritated.
