She's remembering when girls called her "disgusting" in the gym change
room and teachers ignored the slurs directed at her in class.

Nikita, 15, is bisexual. She came out in 2006. Since then, she's done
most of her learning as a home-schooled student.

"I used to get physically sick in the morning because I was so scared
of going to school," she says.

Wearing loose black pants covered in small hearts, her hair clipped
short, Nikita carries her look with confidence. It's hard to imagine
the teen afraid.
