Some 11 Georgia-based companies were among the 259 around the country to earn perfect scores of 100 on the 2009 Corporate Equality Index, released by the Human Rights Campaign last week.

The national gay political group graded 583 companies on a variety of benefits and policies related to gay and transgender employees, as well as outreach and support for "the external LGBT community" through such activities as targeted advertising or sponsoring events.
