Straight supporters of gay, lesbian and transgender rights will hold a candlelight vigil Wednesday at Southlake Town Square as part of a national event to break down prejudices.
The gathering will be led by a pastor new to the area.
"Not only is this a faith issue, but it's a human-rights issue," said the Rev. Tony Lorenzen, the new pastor of Pathways Unitarian Universalist Church in Southlake.
"The Bible really doesn't say too much about homosexuality," he said. "The Bible doesn't really have a sex ethic; it has a love ethic. Jesus doesn't say much about condemning others. Jesus encourages us to love our neighbors as ourselves."
