White Plains, NY - The Westchester County LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) Child Welfare Network will hold a recruitment event Thursday, Sept. 25 designed to share information with the LGBT community about how to become a foster or adoptive parent.

The event will take place at the Memorial United Methodist Church, 250 Bryant Ave, White Plains beginning at 6 p.m.

The focus will be on those who feel they don't fit into the "traditional" nuclear family model – those who are single, disabled, older or LGBT. Parents and their children will speak about what it's like to be a foster or adoptive parent.  Staff from the county Department of Social Services and Westchester County foster and adoption agencies will be on hand to talk to attendees about their agencies and to answer questions about the process of becoming a foster or adoptive parent.
