i agree with kimberly, anyone who presumes to speak for God is just plain nuts! interpreting scripture is as old as scripture itself so it shouldn't be too surprising that there are so many interpretations. by the way, just what the heck is "transgender sex" again? i'm transsexual and i wish somebody would let me in on it...i feel left out! anyway, i have had some intelligent conversations with people who have trouble with the rather explicit language in christian scripture condemning homosexual behavior. i don't mean the ones who just say "you're going to hell" and have no more depth to their conviction, i mean with people who, like myself, are troubled by what we read.
the only source of comfort i have is that i'm ignorant and not nearly smart enough to make myself unignorant enough to fully understand scripture. there are some things in there that i just don't get, and probably never will. there are other things that seem pretty clear...as if written for simpletons like myself...such as..."judge not, lest ye be judged."...or "love your neighbor as you love yourself", things like that.
then there are the things that try my little brain more..."love your enemy"...huh? God is always promising His people that He will destroy their enemies...so...He wants us to love what He is about to destroy? a little more challenging. then there are the things that are just plain goofy <to my little brain> like, "a woman is to remain silent in church, if she has questions she should wait until she gets home and ask her husband in private." maybe someday i'll get that, but...i sure hope it don't mean just what it seems to say...and say so clearly.
things like this i can discuss with people, and try to see what is really going on...as long as it doesn't come down to if i speak out in chruch i'm going to hell...that's just plain silly. "transgender sex"..hmmmm....ratz! wish someone would let me in on that one. and then there are the old laws. it's other people here who try my patience. Christians are loudly and explicitly exempt from the old laws and yet so many of us don't get that. if we live by the old laws and not by faith in the Holy Spirit then we are not christians, we're jews. same God...different path. jews=laws+works.....christians=faith+grace. the ten commandments vs. the ten promises. the jews are commanded to follow the laws, christians are promised we will follow the laws. ok, i'm rambling again. anyway, i'm too disappointed to write more. i just flashed on a thought that brought me back down to earth. what if "transgender sex" is just regular old sex just done by transgender people and not really anything new and exciting at all? booorrrriiinnngggg.
