QuoteWhile certain sexual feelings may be very natural to the persons feeling them, they are not What God Wants, many people say, and are therefore, by definition, "unnatural." A report on October 20, 2003 by Chris Zdeb of CanWest News Service in the Calgary Herald in Edmonton, Canada points to the possibility that the exact opposite may be true.

"Scientists have discovered 54 genes that suggest sexual identity is hard-wired into the brain before birth, and before development of the sex organs," the journalist reports, and goes on to say:

"The findings released today by a team of University of California, Los Angeles, researchers could mean that sexuality, including homosexuality and transgender sexuality, are not a choice."

Nevertheless, the clergy of many of the world's largest religious denominations continue to assert that God condemns such sexual experiences.

The age of the Scribes and Pharisees is not yet over...

Bad translations and poor interpretations (both intentional and unintentional) are going to plague us for a long time to come.  Regardless of your faith-system, I find it appalling and insulting to use any Scripture as a device to spread fear.  And that is what these preachers are doing.  They don't understand, therefore it must be wrong.

I would love to write more, but I am on my way to Mass.

Gosh, Tink, I have no idea. But I'm sure they'll tell us if we need to know. Meanwhile, I'm just going to have a nice glass of fresh Florida orange juice before i do the vacuuming and iron my husband's shirts!

Stealth, whom god wants to do the laundry and housework.

PS--I don't even know what regular sexuality is. Can you cook with it?

Sex seems to be an issue for the clergy. Maybe they should focus on real problems. What's wrong with sex anyhow ?

Seems to me that the "clergy" sees sex as a bigger sin than killing, raping and bombing people. I never understood that.  Although having oral sex with your secretary isn't perhaps the smartest thing to do, still this kind of president seems to be a much bigger "sinner" than another one having a mission and messing up the entire world.  Invoking total war and instability everywhere.

Normally people that pretend to be on a mission from God are considered having mental problems. Especially if they hear voices.

Last week my girflfriend told me transsexuals frighten her. I told her, "Yes you're right those transsexuals are really DANGEROUS individuals. BE AFRAID !!!!!!!!!! Be really afraid.  Who knows they might kill you with their inplanted tits.  One can never be careful enough."

i agree with kimberly, anyone who presumes to speak for God is just plain nuts!  interpreting scripture is as old as scripture itself so it shouldn't be too surprising that there are so many interpretations.  by the way, just what the heck is "transgender sex" again?  i'm transsexual and i wish somebody would let me in on it...i feel left out!  anyway, i have had some intelligent conversations with people who have trouble with the rather explicit language in christian scripture condemning homosexual behavior.  i don't mean the ones who just say "you're going to hell" and have no more depth to their conviction, i mean with people who, like myself, are troubled by what we read.

the only source of comfort i have is that i'm ignorant and not nearly smart enough to make myself unignorant enough to fully understand scripture.  there are some things in there that i just don't get, and probably never will.  there are other things that seem pretty clear...as if written for simpletons like myself...such as..."judge not, lest ye be judged."...or "love your neighbor as you love yourself", things like that.
then there are the things that try my little brain more..."love your enemy"...huh?  God is always promising His people that He will destroy their enemies...so...He wants us to love what He is about to destroy?  a little more challenging.  then there are the things that are just plain goofy  <to my little brain> like, "a woman is to remain silent in church, if she has questions she should wait until she gets home and ask her husband in private."  maybe someday i'll get that, but...i sure hope it don't mean just what it seems to say...and say so clearly.

things like this i can discuss with people, and try to see what is really going on...as long as it doesn't come down to if i speak out in chruch i'm going to hell...that's just plain silly.  "transgender sex"..hmmmm....ratz!  wish someone would let me in on that one.  and then there are the old laws.  it's other people here who try my patience.  Christians are loudly and explicitly exempt from the old laws and yet so many of us don't get that.  if we live by the old laws and not by faith in the Holy Spirit then we are not christians, we're jews.  same God...different path.  jews=laws+works.....christians=faith+grace.  the ten commandments vs. the ten promises.  the jews are commanded to follow the laws, christians are promised we will follow the laws.  ok, i'm rambling again.  anyway, i'm too disappointed to write more.  i just flashed on a thought that brought me back down to earth.  what if "transgender sex" is just regular old sex just done by transgender people and not really anything new and exciting at all?  booorrrriiinnngggg.
