Ok, so I was just wondering what everyone's opinions are about the Canadian Elections coming up.
I still haven't decided who I'm going to vote for. I'm torn between voting for the Green Party or NDP.
But I feel like I'll be splitting the liberal vote if I vote Green. (Then again I'll still be splitting the liberal vote if I vote NDP).
But I'm really unsure about the NDP and Green Party's policies are regarding LGBT issues. I know that the Green's have mentioned that they intend to "Expand the rights of gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and
transsexual Canadians." As stated in
http://www.votefortomorrow.ca/Looking_Forward.pdf . But I'm unsure as to how they intend to implement those changes and what specifically those changes would be.
As far as I know, NDP and the Greens have pretty much the same platform on everything but the environment. But I'd still like to know more.
Does anybody else have any more information?
Also, what are your predictions for the election. My very ROUGH estimates for the number of seats are: Con-120 Liberal-80 Bloc-55 NDP-50 Green-2? I'm being very optimistic about the greens. And over guessing Bloc and NDP.

http://www.mapleleafweb.com/features/2008-election-campaign-political-party-platformsFor anyone that is interested. I found this link which summarizes the political platforms for the 5 major parties in Canada.
Also, here is an excerpt from the Green Party's platform that I found (I thought I'd share since I've decided to vote Green):
Green Party MPs will:
* Amend the Canadian Human Rights Act to explicitly include gender identity and gender
expression as protected grounds of discrimination.
* Amend the Criminal Code to include gender identity and gender expression in the hate
sentencing and hate propaganda provisions.
* Repeal s.159 of the Criminal Code.
* Support public education to end prejudice and discrimination based on sexual orientation
and gender identity.
* End the targeting by Canada Customs of LGBT bookstores and other LGBT businesses.
* Ensure Canada advocates internationally for an end to state-sanctioned discrimination and
violence against LGBT people.
Although I have the feeling we won't get any seats.
