Out here in sin city, we had our choice between three days of free shows, featuring everyone from Robert Plant to Asleep at the Wheel, to the Bad Livers, to M.C. Hammer

Yeah, free.

for the full list.

OR... THE LOVE PARADE.

moocher. Our government has you on satellite surveillance mooching stuff because it has nothing better to do now that we have 2 wars, a crashed economy, and an election coming up that is about to be stolen.

Oh, I forgot bush/cheney are working on their plan to void the election entirely. Don't be surprised if there's some bombings around here with CIA fingerprints all over them. I kid you not. Our government has become one of the most depraved institutions in the world.

So, if anyone here is watching CNN and they see my corpse in a bombing, please notify my mother because the government will claim they have no I.D. on it.

sorry, I slipped topic.

My Dad, step mom & brother came down from Montana and finished my master bedroom shower (tile & new door)...FINALLY!!!! Still couldn't bring myself to come out to them though :-\  still not a bad weekend, but it would've been cool to have gone to some free concerts instead.

The time may never feel right for you to come out to your family. I'm sure it'll happen when it's supposed to.  You should have ditched the parents and gone out to a free concert leaving them to paint.  That's what us old people like to do. Paint. Then watch it dry.

I was working for part of it, but the LoveParade went right by where I was, so that was nice, I skipped the park, I was just out there for Outside Lands last month or so, and I hate crowds, but the line up looked awesome.

We just moved from one apartment to another, so most of the weekend was filling boxes, carting boxes, and emptying boxes.

I was really bummed when I found out that the SF Symphony was giving a free show at Justin Herman (I think it was there) and my wife & I were too busy with the move to go.

Oh, well. I'm sure there'll be more free shows in SF in the future...

tekla

Could be, they tend to stick the Symphony either at Stern Grove, or Yurba Buena Gardens where the wind is less of an issue than it can be at JHP,  although I saw U2 play a free show at JHP, that was pretty cool.

I'm done with free shows.  The crowds and the crowds behavior ruin the occaission for me.  When something is free it is valued accordingly.  Hence, the crowd at Ammie Mann concert will talk insecintly throughout the performance.  Festival seating means the best seats will be held by those most aggressive.  I have a lot of luck getting comp tickets and an educator's discount on lots of others.

And Shades, see the Symphony at Davies.  It's much nicer when the stops aren't filled wih traffic noise not to mention it's a damn good excuse to get dressed up!   :D

Well Davies is great, and it is a good excuse to wear my little black dress.

I've been to see the SF Symphony at Davies once before. I was a chaperone for my son's freshman band class in high school. That was a great venue; great acoustics.

I know they usually play at Stern Grove, that's why I was surprised by the venue announcement on KDFC.  JHP seemed to be a noisy place for the symphony.

tekla

JHP is real windy, which makes miking them a bit of a problem.  However, they do use that plaza from time to time.

This weekend, the Blue Angels and Fleet Week - hey sailor!

Have you been to the Black & White Ball?  You can watch gorgeous young women in expensive gowns squwat in front of City Hall and puke their guts out.

On the other hand, waltzing to Strauss under the rotunda while the sympony plays in the mezzanine is worth the price of admission.

Done the B&W as a patron, a worker, and as part of a band that played there.  Gone as boy and as a girl.  Its a pretty cool night for sure.

I spent Saturday with my son, and that was fun.  Bowling & the movies.  He shared some things that he and his mother have talked about, but needed me to promise to not tell her.  Nothing bad.

Sunday was spent at the Breast Cancer Awareness walkathon.  (5 km walk)  The Rochester Womens Community Chorus (which i am a part of) sang the national anthem and "Let the River Run."  One of the local media talking-heads was the MC for the event.  Well, I know her from when my ex worked at the TV station.  So, I decided to say hello.  I said, XXXX sends her regards."

"Oh, that's so nice!" was the reply. "They are in Syracuse, aren't they?"

"The last time the MC had seen me, I was a few pounds lighter, short hear and a full beard.  She had no clue who I was!  And I found that funny.  She also had no clue that I am the person they did the TV story about.

I went to Lee Evans saturday night! At the o2 in London and it was awesome!

Pica Pica

the O2 is great...

I hung around the premiere for high school musical 3 whilst waiting for a mate yesterday, then went to a spoof eurovision song contest.
