If your child is a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender student in middle or high school, chances are almost 9 in 10 that he or she has been harassed over the past year, according to a recently released national survey.

Nearly 45 percent of 6,200 students surveyed across the country reported being physically harassed; more than 22 percent said they had been physically assaulted at school because of their sexual orientation.
