Underworks binder - disappointed and baffled?

So, I got an Underworks binder, the double front compression shirt.  I was excited, had always heard good things, had high hopes.
Figured that at the very least, it had to do a better job than the Ace velcro back-wrap thing just used to hold an icepack against the lower back that I've been using.  :\

This thing is awful and I don't know if I'm just confused and doing something horribly wrong or what I should have expected but it's...  inhuman.

It was a two-man effort to get it on, to start.  I could not possibly put it on by myself, and it still took a ridiculous amount of effort on my partner's behalf to get it on me.  Getting it off was just as terrible.

It, more or less...  didn't do what it was supposed to.
Awful as it is to admit, I have a supposedly "ideal" hourglass figure with just some extra weight -- my chest is big and sticks out far, while my stomach/waist is more slender before the curve of my hips.
The binder hurt my abdomen and my lower back profusely, but controlled my breasts even less than a typical bra.
I was jiggling in it like I belonged in Baywatch.  Every step I took, the only thing I was aware of was the embarrassing jiggling.
Despite the fact that my chest is large (and certainly sticks out farther than my belly), there was still extra material that bunched up at the sides of the 'straps' near my underarms, even though it was painfully tight at my waist.
It didn't really flatten my chest much at all, there is still no possible way I could have passed.  It did, granted, make it "less obvious," and I can acknowledge that it is difficult (impossible?) to appear flat with the size of my chest, but I had heard such great things about it from others with large sizes.

I wore it for all of, maybe, three hours... and felt awful.  I was light-headed, sore, and certainly unable to move naturally.

I don't think I got the wrong size...  considering the purpose of it.  It was too loose where it needed to be tight, my chest area... yet so tight it was painful and difficult to get on/off, and so constricting at my abdomen.  But maybe I did?  I can't possibly imagine getting into anything smaller (I can barely imagine putting this one back on!) yet I don't think a larger one would be any better for the actual chest binding.

I just don't know.  I appreciate and think that it is great that the Underworks site exists and sells such products, I'm not out to ruin their business or good name or discredit them, because deep down my insecurities are telling me that it just didn't work for me because I'm too weird and messed up physically.
When I was big C/low D-ish, I could use Ace bandages and pull it off, but now that I'm bigger it just seems so impossible.
Do I really have no option at all other than to wait however long for surgery?

There's some sort of underlying question in all this ranting -- did I pick the wrong binder for my body, is there a right one to possibly pick, are my proportions just freakish and I'm doomed forever, any advice, similar experiences, better experiences, better alternatives?

I bought a medium Underworks binder -- I think it was the tri-top.  I couldn't get it on either.  Once I got close, and then had a heck of a time getting it off.  Sits in a drawer.

I went back and bought their compression shirts that are double -- binder lining and tee-shirt fabric outside.  Those work well.  Also there are some gynecomastia shirts on ebay that work well also.  If that is what you bought maybe you did get a smaller size.

I'll have a bunch of binders for sale cheap in another month or so.  ;D

The one I got is a double compression shirt, but it doesn't have tee-shirt fabric on the outside, all of it is the stiff lining material.  The one you mentioned sounds better for sure.

I'll have to take a look at your sales!  I spent the last of what I have for now, money-wise, on this binder...  but if it will be a month or so, I'll have to check it out when I have some funds again, thanks for letting me know.  :)

I'll look into it.  I'd thought maybe the long one might also help with my birthin' hips and give me a leaner appearance overall, but I guess it wasn't such a good idea.  Thank you.

also the tritop binds pretty well, but doesn't make you flat, just a hell of a lot flatter (mine are on the bigger side too). and definitely no bouncing action going on with the tritop.

No bouncing sounds a lot better already!  I'll definitely take a look and keep it in mind.

On this page I have a muscle shirt and the cotton concealer compression tank.  They're fairly comfortable.  At first I didn't like that they went below my waist, but I do have a gut so it helps hold that in also.  I LOVE them.

For me they bind enough such that when I wear a tee shirt and button down shirt I'm flat.  And if my kids see me there is no explaining -- it's a shirt, though my daughter is aware they're boob-squisher shirts, but for me they don't squish much more than a sports bra.  I like that they don't delineate my lumps like a sports bra with the band below them.

I'll need my binders until mid Dec.  Looking forward to the day I no longer need them. ;D

I've got the same binder, with the same problem. I solve it by folding the binder up (which makes it four times normal compression) and pinning it around the shoulders/armpits. The binder does nothing worn normally, but it works a lot better when worn in this fashion. Also, getting it on: I step into it and haul it up over my hips and then slip my arms into it. I remove it by taking my arms out and sliding it down. Don't give up on your binder, just experiment with it. I'm pretty big in the chest, too, and it works alright for me.

I'll definitely have to try folding it up, that sounds like an interesting idea and way to work with it.
I just grabbed it and tried to work it up over my hips like you suggested, but it just doesn't seem to be working that way for me -- I'm a bit full in the thighs/hips/rear area.  (The bane of my existence, though everyone else seems to love it.   :-\ )
I feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one with problems, but you have a point, I'll try and experiment some and see what I can do with it.  :)

Lol I've never ordered anything from Underworks except for their "FTM Swim Suit" shirt.

Funny that you should mention the hassle of getting your binder on and off, cause that was me the day I tried on my swim shirt. I couldn't breathe cause it was too tight around my gut, and it did NOTHING for my chest. And OMG I don't know how I got it on and off by myself. No idea. (I guess part of it was that I don't have a partner, and the other part was that I was desperate for oxygen once it was on and NEEDED to get it off).

Sorry I don't have any suggestions though. I'm just saying. It only takes one time for me to mistrust a company. (Then again clinical depression makes you think everything's a conspiracy...)

yea i had the same problem as you at first. i think we have similar body builds from your description , i have that hourglass figure that most girls would kill for but i hate, large chest & hips but the rest of me is small. i put it on by starting at the feet and sliding it up, the first time i put it on it took a good 10 minutes of struggling and when it was on it felt like it was constricting my breathing, cos it's real tight all over the body instead of just the chest. but i was so desperate to cover them up that i just kept wearing it and now i've been binding so long that i hardly notice it. it takes 20 seconds to put on & take off now. probably not the best advice, if u can even consider it advice at all heh, but good luck

I have the tri-top and it makes me more or less. Completely flat, saying that mine arent that big.
The binder was ok until the first wash but now it leaves me crippled when it comes off D:
Cause i cant do alot with out feeling like i have a heavy thing on my back lol.
Its worse when its hot...

I have the same problem only I've tried 3 different binders over last few months which I can;t afford to keep buying them.  None of them have worked right yet.  The tritop curls and presses into my back which is very painful, as did the double layer commpression shirt.  The stupid muscle shirt is the most comfortable except it doesn;t frecking bind much at all and I bounce in it.
Every day we pass people, do we see them or the mask they wear?
If you live under a mask long enough, does it eventually break or wear down?  Does it become part you?  Maybe alone, they are truly themselves?  Or maybe they have forgotten or buried themselves so long, they forget they are not a mask?

Then i'm definately not getting the muscle top o.o
One of my mates hasnt had a problem with the tri-top yet and he seems alright with it.
So either they changed how they make it or he's lucky lol.
I'm thinking of moving to the double compression since i'm not that big.. but it looks awkward to get on and i dont wanna get stuck in a binder D:

I avoid any binders that go lower than my ribcage because I have an hourglass figure too and they just roll up. I recommend getting the ones that just go around the boobs, and t-kingdom is win at binders that don't feel like they're killing you :3 I hardly notice I'm wearing mine.

Aiden

t-kingdom don;t make them big enough from what seen when looked there.  Not big enough for me anyways lol

I had a devil of a time getting my underworks tri-top on the first time, as well.  I found that if I wore it over a slick sports compression shirt (bike shirt, rash guard) I could slide the tri-top on without taking a swath of skin off my arms and chest.  ;)  I must say, it binds the best of any binder I've tried, though it's not the most comfortable.  My mom saw me wearing it the other day, and she freaked a little.  *sigh*  I told her it was a super-strong-guaranteed-not-to-let-you-jiggle sports bra.  I know.  I'm such a coward.  :-\

i bought the same one a couple years back n im big, but it worked besides getting it on and off. but now they have a new one with the hooks in the front with a double front. that one is perfect because I can get it on and off by myself without feeling like im in a straitjacket. you should send the one you bought back and get one with the hooks in the front so you dont have to worry about taking it on and off without so much trouble
