Includes video!!!

I can't believe it.  I'm watching MSNBC and Keith Olbermann is giving an incredibly powerful Special Comment... on gay marriage and Prop. 8.  He is literally tearing up over the hatefulness that led to the passage of Prop. 8.  He reminded us of the Loving v. Virginia case only 40 years ago, that one third of the states back then didn't even allow interracial marriage.  Oh, and slavery, where their marriages weren't recognized either.

Keith is making an appeal to the better angels of our humanity.  Damn powerful stuff.

Everyone needs to watch this.  It'll replay at 7pm PST/10pm EST and again at 10pm PST/1am EST, around the last 10-15 minutes of the program.  Keith closed with a plea from Clarence Darrow.

I'll add that in this past week of posting items about prop 8, this is one of the best things I've seen on this topic! We need more straight allies like Keith Olbermann.

Umm...wow. I'm in tears after that. That was the most succinct, straight-forward, to-the-point, most heartfelt plea from anyone I've ever heard, and he no reason to, save for the fact that he is a human and has love for his fellow human, something that those who oppose Prop 8 or others like it will never be able to attain. I applaud him and hope that one day our species as a whole can move closer to the deep understanding that this man holds.

I watch "Countdown" pretty regularly, and I've seen any number of his Special Commentaries. Keith can be bombastic, withering, indignant, and any number of other things, but I was trying to think whether I have ever seen him get choked up like this before and I never have. On the one hand, a journalist isn't supposed to lose his composure like that...it was a little difficult to watch. On the other hand, it was a whale of a commentary, right on the money.

I noticed that he didn't even do his usual thing about the two thousand something-something day since the declaration of mission accomplished in Iraq, goodnight and good luck. It just went straight into the Rachel Maddow show, which was a little jarring.
