yes i want to, ever since i can remember... .
I feel like i have nothing to do as a male. i once had long hair, smooth, straightened, and nice smelling too! and i always was told i looked like a passable girl...who had no boobs sadly :P i knew everything, EVERYTHING about acting like a girl! ( no exaggerations ofcourse :] )

So i had been thinking of actually going through this process for a long time, and it hit me harder when i cut it i started acting more masculine and i hated it, i didnt feel natural. many of you have gone through transition already, and i envy YOU AND GENETIC females..
i want to be like YOU but i have no clue of what to do first. I know my orgasms wont be the same, and i will be sterile..but i still want it bad. i already told close friends and they accepted it. <3

So now im here... asking for advice. what am i to do? im only 18, and i dont want to miss out doing this later in my life but i dont have the money :[

--i am also looking forward to making friends here! :]

Hi Alessandra,

First:
Welcome to our little family.  Just by being here you have friends now.  And a bunch of Big Sisters.  We will help you on your jouerney.  Ask anything and we will try to answer it. OK?

Second:
Get a Gender Identity therapist.  And begin there.  I know it isn't cheap so contact your local GLBT support group in your hometown.

Best of luck in your journey.

Thank You Janet For Warm Welcome!

i will follow advice given by big sisters! :]
Many say that because i am young to think over...but how can i think over  what i already know? your support helps me. I will do these steps as soon as i can. I already know people in support groups and i am also glad to have them too, because i have told them sooo much.
Today i searched for this site because it was recommended to me by one of them and i see why :]

i hope to learn more from this community!

Welcome to the site, Alessandra (beautiful name, btw). *hugs*

Janet is a wise lady, I would echo what she's already said. And also, have a look around the boards here, as well as the Wiki for insight on anything specifically you might want to know.

You're among friends here, honey. :)

Above all... remember: you are beautiful, you are valuable, and you have a shining spark of magnificence within you. Don't let anyone take that from you. Embrace who you are. <3

Hi And yes a gorgeous name!
I came out to my parents at 13. Strict catholics, not a good day! I came out because puberty was starting and I really didn't what was going to happen. I'd had already asked my Mum when my periods would start and my breasts grow ( I had a sister) I was ignorant but I knew I was a girl.  I now live in a different country (far far away). If you are TS/TG, feelings don't change, seek a therapist, sometimes local TG groups can help, they do in my city (far far away!). You are 18, do some thinking, without getting depressed. Where do you want to be physically and socially in ten years. I don't want to be rude but decide if you are gay or TG, follow your instincts, you are young but older than I was. I'm not gay, I have gay friends that I deeply love but don't desire physical intimacy with them, but I enjoy their love. You have an opportunity and lots of friends. Welcome to a new world and life :).Oh and by the way be careful of depression, seek help from your GP, there are very simple drugs that can help and in times of acute stress be carefull.

At 18 there are two things you need in short order if you want to keep the best chance for success.

First is a therapist, someone with a little knowledge in the field so they can get you referred to an endocrinologist for androgen blockers A.S.A.P. The sooner you can block the effects of testosterone, the easier transition will be and once on blockers, you have more time to sort things out.

(Fortunately a lot more is known and understood these days than when I was young and you don't need to follow the reckless path we did back then.)

You should also consider (maybe with the help of the therapist) how and when to bring up the subject with your parents. Their support would make the path a lot easier.

Allessandra!

Welcome to our happy home!  Relax, take your heels off (or put them on!), and have a cup of tea.

Please look through our site rules and the other areas of Susan's site.

This journey is not for the faint of heart, but I think you may have already figured that out.  It's wonderful that your friends support you.  That can be so important.

Have you thought about coming out to your family and what that may entail?  That could be a rocky road, so prepare for that.

As some of the others here have already mentioned, getting into a support group and finding a therapist is probably your best first steps.  Also, you may want to start shopping for clothes and makeup if you haven't already.  And shopping for clothes at a thrift shop is a great place to start building your wardrobe.

And if you have any questions, feel free to ask us.  Many of us have been through the transition and may have already answered the question you have.

Welcome sister, to your new home!

-Sandy

You made a pun by using "support" in the same sentence as "bra". Your
English is fine, it's my first language but I do it all the time...and we all laugh about it

hi and welcome to susan's. from your profile i cant where you are, but if you are in the states my biggest piece of advice to you, is to stay out of being employed in a retail environment, especially walmart, if you decide to transition, they make it a proverbial pain in the ass to change anything.

I'm 18 as well and am in college. I am seeking therapy as my first step. I am seeking this primarily because I'm not confident with myself, but you seem to be. There's defiantly something to be gained regardless if you ask me. But its nice to see people my age too, Welcome to Susan's, its a pleasure to meet you.

Just to note one thing: although you'll be sterile after vaginoplasty, you won't necessarily be unable to have genetic children. Banking your sperm is a very good idea!
