As of 2:58pm Pacific time on 15 November, I became a clergy spouse. My wife has been ordained!

Congrats. So, will you get a tax exemption?

Since she's been officially ordained, we can designate most, maybe even all, of her salary as a "housing allowance." It will be taxed differently than income, but it won't be tax-free.

The denomination is United Church of Christ.

Does this mean she can officiate at a GLBT wedding?  Well tell the pastor Congratulations.

She most certainly can, and can't wait to do so. Of course, prop 8 passed so it wouldn't be a legal marriage. But, it would be a wedding ceremony nonetheless.

Cool, I'm actually an ordained minister in the Universalist Life Church, or something like that. I found an ad in a magazine in the 70s and sent off for the certificate, as I recall it was $10. Kinda just did it as a novelty thing. Never had the courage to try to invoke the tax exemption, but I sure have thought about it  :o
