When Mormon volunteers walked door to door to urge yes on Proposition 8, their first talking point was: "God created marriage." According to a New York Times report, if the householder agreed with #1 in principle, the Mormon walker then launched into the next talking points in favor of Prop. 8. We now know that they got a lot of votes this way.

Indeed, all the different religions that support Prop 8 are insisting they know for a fact that "God created marriage." If you read through their materials, that key phrase is everywhere. Each religion insists further that it knows the "truth" of what God says. So, according to them, America should take their word for it, and enshrine their definition of "God's marriage" in U.S. civil law.
