Ok since i have done a few searches and found nothing i am asking openly to all transgenders in the forum who have had the surgury done and are taking horomone pills or have not gotten the surgury done yet and are on the pills....how much did/does it cost? what is the monthly expenices and finally who would YOU recommend to perform the MtF surgury?

Your advice and infomation will be GREATLY helpful to me...thx in advance! :)

It cost me a little less than hundred dollar per month for hormone, anti-androgen, and dht blocker That with genrics and at least a 90 days purchase at a time. I'm Pre opt.

I can't recommend anybody since I haven't had surgery yet but here is a good website for srs.

I pay right around $70 USD for mine. Some are name brand one is not. As far as the surgery goes I've heard rave reviews for Dr. Marcie Bowers in Trinidad Colorado USA and Dr  Pierre Brassard in Montreal Quebec Canada.

I haven't had GRS yet but from the results I've been able to see on-line I am leaning toward Dr. Brassard but I'm not going to rule out Dr. Bowers until I am better informed on her technique. I think at this point it could go either way for me.

I pay $160 per month after ins. I take avodart , spiro and estridiol tablets. no coment on how much of that I take. I get estridiol directly from the dr. so my ins. doesn`t know.

It`s the Avodart that is costing so much at 90$ a month. It looks like I have the most expencive regimen so far.

Before SRS, and whether or not I had insurance coverage, it varied from $35.00 USD a month, to nearly $500.00 a month.
Once the surgery took place, my costs for my maintenance and health have averaged $12.00 to 20.00 a month, depending on what has to be refilled, and how many.
Once that awful package is gone for good, you'll be amazed at what a difference it makes.   FREEDOM!

Remember your multi-vitamins girls. Want to look young longer? Want to have soft porcelain looking skin? Then, stay the hell out of the sun. Forget the beach games! Once your skin makes it's transition from male to female, and it will, if your on hormones long enough, you'll burn and dry out much much faster. Save your hide...Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Don't scrimp on quality. Love the shade.

I hate to say my costs, because both my Spiro and Estradiol are covered by my insurance.  Kaiser at $20 each for 90 days.  Another good website is tsroadmap.com.  I am leaning toward Bowers, when I can afford it.

correct me if im wrong but isn't avodart a dht blocker my doctor prescribed me proscar instead and its half the price

You are correct. Avodart is a dht blocker. Once you have been on it awhile, say bye-bye to erections...it will take awhile however.
I always felt, when the time comes that you are fully prepared to live as a pre-op woman/female...you shouldn't be trying to get male elections anyway. Even if your a Bi-gay male, transitioning to a female, I feel getting a woody, should be the last thing on your mind or desire.

That is just my opinion however, on the matter.

I never wanted them...EVER! At least not on me, but in me is another matter for another discussion entirely.

i have found you can get Estrogen from wal-mart under the 4 dollar price the Spironolactone is not under that program

add    go to http://www.walmart.com/pharmacy and see for youself

Huh estrogen 4 dollars? Somethings sounds really off there. I don;t think you can even get a bottle of tylendol for under 4 dollars anymore

Proscar isn't as effective as Avodart at preventing the creation of DHT.

In any case, neither have any feminizing effects (except for the rare case of slight breast enlargement). They can be helpful to prevent - and to some extent reverse - male pattern hair loss though.
