When I was in Vancouver two weeks ago for a consultation with my surgeon, I had the opportunity to talk with him and his assistant about FTM genital reconstruction. Dr. Cameron Bowman was trained in FTM genital surgeries, including phalloplasty, by Dr. Stan Monstrey in Ghent, Belgium.
As I understand it, the Government of British Columbia paid for this training, then pulled support for the Trans Health Program, which means that even though we have a highly qualified surgeon in the province who can perform SRS procedures, he cannot get operating room time and hospital stays to be able to perform them. That's a whole can of corn I won't go into here though. Instead, I wanted to share some information he gave me about phalloplasty surgery.
