The power of words

I enjoy Twitter. I follow 55 people, although far fewer of that number are active any more. Several people in my twitterverse are transsexuals, people I have got to know a little or a lot, people I enjoy staying in touch with. Usually, we get along just fine, but with any interaction of human beings, there is a potential for misunderstanding, insult (intentional or otherwise), and hurt feelings.

The disturbance started over the word trap. Until recently, I was completely unfamiliar with any use of this word to mean transgender or transsexual people. Wikipedia has two definitions.
