Like so many here I've been doing it for so long that I can't remember exactly. I think it came gradually though, pantyhose and panties, then bras then dresses, skirts and blouses.

It is always thrilling and exciting when I go out in full dress. Now I suspect that the primary purpose of my cross-dressing is probably to enjoy such excitement and attention of people. Of course, I always wear women's dress at my workplace, but I do not wear highheels and skirts there. Wearing heels in street or subway train makes me really happy and excited, as I look taller than anybody else (also I look slimmer than any other woman there). Beautiful young ladies  study me only when I may look as feminine as them.

God, I'm jealous! :)

Seriously, though, isn't it unusual to wear heels on the street or on the subway? I thought most GG's wore sneakers when they commuted, and changed into heels when they got to their offices.

Or is that a myth? Anyone care to comment? I don't have any first-hand experience: I live in the 'burbs, and in my office, every day is casual Friday.

I see the heels in a bag, and the Xtrainers on the feet pretty much all the time in SF.  I think it has to do with the hills, and the amount of walking you have to do.  If you were at some suburban campus type office park where you can park a few feet away from work, not so much, but if your on the bus, walking a few blocks to get to it, and several when you get off, doing stairs on Bart, or having to do hills (either up or down, matter of fact going down a hill in heels is much harder than going up) and weather too.  I don't see many pairs of heels or open toed mules when its pouring.

Marysue,

I also noticed the difference in wearing heels in the street. Wearing heels is very popular and usual in my country, S. Korea. Some women wear heels even in the beach. I sometimes see a mom wear 4 inch heels while holding her baby. In my workplace, more than half of women wear heels everyday. I think the reason is because heels can make women's legs more beautiful and indeed plastic beauty surgery is probably most popular in S. Korea. On the other hand, the city of Seoul plans to make and improve all streets to be comfortable for walking with high heels. They call it 'High-heel street'.

Everybody else has told my childhood story in one way or another, and mine is a casebook type story. Small deviation for me though was that as a young child, I had to stay indoors and when out, avoid the rough stuff that other boys did due to severe allergies.  Indoors, I liked doing needle work and lace work, other art work, and learning about cooking.  As a teenager, only the cooking was an admirable achievement.

Fast forward to my late 40's when I had some money, and the kids were teenagers who left their single parent alone on weekends.  I was on line then and found out there were two stores close enough to drive to that catered to the TG community.  They were expensive, but the both did makeovers, and one was owned by a make-up artist with eye popping credentials from the entertainment world.  I got a couple of pieces of clothing from each one, including the proverbial "little black dress", a wig from each store, and then I had an open weekend and booked a make-over session at 2 in the afternoon.  The store had a coming-out special that got you make-up and wig styling, and I could have rented or bought stuff I did not have from them, and in the evening when their regular out customers came in, every body went to a "T" friendly restaurant a few blocks away.  I got to stay around the store from 2:45 when the make over was finished until the others got there.  The restaurant experience was wonderful, it was GLBT friendly, and everyone knew I was in drag and liked me anyhow.

Hello

wow thanks for your comments :-)

I finally ordered myself a dress :-)))) I cant wait for it to arrive.

I got myself a panty the other day, and it was magical wearing it for the first time :-))), female under wear feels so soft. The bra is on it's way :-)

Now I want to try on a thong, I see barbie mentioned in her post that she wear thongs.  Question Barbie, do you need to tuck differently when wearing a thong, do to the lack of room or is this not a problem.

Congratulations on ordering your dress and other goodies!  Be sure to let us know how it goes.

Your first time out can be a tremendous adventure.  I dressed for years without going out.  When I finally started I have never looked back.  If you are interested, you can read my account of those times here:  (You do have to have 15 posts before you can read it.)

I wish you the best!

I thought wearing sandals with hose or stockings was a "no-no"?  What do you think about that?

Congrats, noleen,

I hope such happiness lasts long.

Tucking is always a problem for me. For this reason, I avoid tight skirts. For jeans and short pants, I do not need tucking. I like wearing tight leggings, and fortunately a trend here is to wear leggings under miniskirts or short pants. Usually I avoid tight underwear pants as lack of ventilation can cause skin problems in buttocks.

For me, I will not like to wear sandals and pantyhose/stockings. For me if you are wearing pantyhose/stockings it should be with a closed shoe.

I bought myself a nice pair of pumps to wear for my wear with my new dress. They are closed toe. In the summer I will get myself a nice pair of sandals and then have a go at painting my toe nails. I now got to learn to walk in heels (any advice????)

Are there any websites I can learn a little on applying makeup? I dont want to wear too much makeup, maybe something around the eyes and lipstick

I am not planning on going out in public any time soon. I am still exploring my female side.

Practice.  And as you practice, think about working it girl.

As for makeup, there is makeup dot com, a huge site, and almost every brand has a site, lots of vids on Utube also.  Best way is find a human who knows how.

I am so excited,

My dress and bra have arrived. I now have an entire outfit. I was so excited when I courier dropped it off this morning. My wig arrived yesterday.

This evening I am going to take a nice bath and shave my legs for the first time. I must just go to the shops to get a female razor.

A friend is coming over to pierce my ears, so I will even wearing earings :-))).

I am so excited I actually cant wait for this evening.

I will let you all know how it goes.

I am now already for this evening

got my ladies razor and my friend has just left after piercing my ears.

That felt amazing, it was not sore at all. As I have had described to me by women, it was kinda weird feeling in the jewelry went in.

I am trying so hard not to touch my ears, wow I love looking at them in the mirror.

How many of you girls have pierced ears?

Over the years, my left ear has been pierced. But, the hole has closed over twice now. Sometime in the near future, I'm going to get them both pierced again.

The Cover Girl makeup site has some good basic information on how to apply makeup.  There are other sites as well, but I found the Cover Girl site helpful.  They make a nice inexpensive but good product.  You can spend a fortune on makeup if you are not careful.  One of the most important pieces of advice is to begin with properly cleaned and moisturized skin.  Cleansers and moisturizers can also cost a fortune, but I think a simple brand like Dove works just fine.  By the way I do not own any stock in either of the companies I mentioned.   :)

Still to get my ears pierced but have my belly button done and love it. As for dressing been doing that all my life. Finally had the courage to go fully dressed and out in public two years ago. Sought of outed myself to a close friend in a public forum. Talk about nerve racking

My story sounds similar to many others who have posted.  I first dressed fully as a teenager, around 13-14- I didn't flaunt it, and didn't need to get up much nerve to do it as it was with a friend who I played "girlfriend" to.  When I started dressing again many years later it didn't take much guts- once I felt the feelings to dress and tried on some shoes I quickly went all the way.  No- getting the guts to be seen as a woman, that's a different story!

That's a hard one to answer. The first time I was only about 5 years old so it was probably curiosity. It must have been fun though because I still remember that red satin dress that was to big. After that it was matter of going out in public. Now I just make sure I don't go to an unsafe place while. I don't go to redneck bars or biker bars. I do dress and go to church and grocery shopping. One time while dressed I went to Walmart to purchase steel toes boots for my job. on my way out a lady at the exit was checking merchandise and receipts. She said "Excuse me ma'am, may I check you bag."? Cool, I pulled it off. Unfortunately if I had spoken my voice would have given me away. But I'm working on that. You can find voice training advise at deepstealth. Ear piercing is no biggy. It doesn't hurt much and I highly reccomend it. You have a much larger choice of earrings. Clipons hurt after a few hours. When you get your ears pierced take care so don't get an infection. That is easy. Just use rubbing alcohol. The shop that does the piercing can advise you on the care and the proper earrings. Some people hav e allergies to some metals. Have fun. ByBy Genevieve
