The actor, who is known for his roles as Gandalf in the fantasy film trilogy and as Magneto in the X-Men movies, visited Blatchington Mill School in Nevill Avenue, Hove, to raise awareness of World Aids Day.
He met students to discuss gay tolerance in society.
But he also found time to watch the Year 9 students' current production of Romeo and Juliet.
