Therapist number 4!

So I have been looking around and finally set an appointment for next week.

I'm hoping I can find a good therapist one of these times.  I talked to her for a bit, and she seems pretty chill.  She is a gender therapist too and she does have past experience with others as well.  So hopefully all will go well.

One little question though.  She does accept insurance and is listed on my insurance site for being covered.  How do I go about getting covered by insurance?  It's a PPO and it's under my parents name since I'm going to school fulltime.  Can someone with some wisdom help me out there.  I don't know anything about insurance :/  Parents have done it all for me my whole life heh.

If she is on your insurance, she should know how to bill them.  If not call and ask your insurance carrier. 

That is the best way.  you may have to pay and be rembursted by the insurance.  But ask her.

yea, what janet said. PPO makes it even easier since you can usually get away from most of the "in network" versus "out of network" charges.

your therapist will know what to do. for me, I am entitled to 30 visits a year from my PPO and my insurance pays 50%. all I had to do was give my therapist my insurance card and she was on her way.

I filled out a form and my therapist made a copy of my insurance card.  I didn't really have to do anything more than that, which was nice.  I just give her the co-pay in cash each time, and I get a monthly statement with basically no information on it saying I don't owe anything.

Your parents should have you as a dependent on their insurance and all you would need is the insurance card, the doctors office will make a copy of it to put on file then each time you go all that you will owe is the co-pay. My therapist codes my visits as treating me for depression and secondary for gid, if it's coded the other way around i don't think my insurance would cover it.

I will be starting to see a therapist in feb or mar and about my gender and me wanting to be a female, i was taking delestrogen injections back in 2003  and pills to transition i was on them for abot 3 to 4 months i quit because i had no medical oversight. its been 5,6 years since then. and now i want to do it right will it help when i see the therapist that i was on them before, and will he/she be more likely to aprove me for hrt? and is not how long should it take to be aproved? i really dont want someone to tell me who i ma or what i am i know that already its just i want to do it right..i will be ahving a orchiectomy soon too just not sure when..

Thanks for all the information.  I am a dependent on my parents insurance card, and I'm looking into the whole deal right now.  I emailed my therapist about it too just to confirm what exactly she wants me to do so then I can ask my parents to help me out with anything I need to fill out.
