Hitchhiker murderer's release blocked

A TRANSSEXUAL murderer accused of sexually assaulting other prisoners in jail will remain behind bars until a court decides whether to overturn a decision to grant her parole.

The NSW Supreme Court today granted the state Government leave to challenge a decision by the NSW Parole Authority to release Maddison Hall, formerly Noel Crompton Hall.

Hall has served 16 years of a 22-year sentence for the 1987 shooting murder of hitchhiker Lyn Saunders in southern NSW, near the border city of Mildura.
