Hi, I'm curious to know if I wear a corset during the day could it push the fat lower on the body. This may sound stupid but I noticed where the belt line is no fat accumulates below it but above it. So I figure maybe I could do some body molding without having to lose every drop of fat on me! I'm curious if anyone has done this? Thanks. ;)

I doubt that any corset would do that. It's one thing to push an inch-wide band of fat up of down a little. But to get the effect you want, a corset would have to displace the fat either up to your breasts, or down to your hips (I'm assuming that like most of us, you could afford to have bigger hips). I doubt that your body fat is that mobile.

It's more likely that a corset would compress the fat, and/or your stomach and other organs. The effect probably wouldn't be permanent, but while you wore the corset, it could knock a few inches off your waist.

Of course, if you wear a corset long enough, you won't be able to eat much, so that will end up trimming your waist. :)

I gather that strict corseting, as practiced in victorian times, could create a wasp waist by slowly pushing the internal organs up and down. But I don't think that's what you're talking about.

Disclaimer: I do use standard female-issue "shapewear" like waist cinchers, but I've never tried a true lace-up-the-back corset.

GGs have the same issue, we just have it more exacerbated. If you're early in your transition, I'd suggest losing a bunch of weight and then slowly regain it later on when you know your body is estrogenized enough that whatever new fat you get will go to the right places.

In regards to corsetting, no, it wouldn't help with that particular issue (check out some pictures of modern women who have taken up straightlacing and you'll see). Also, all progress with a corset will not last unless you take up corsetting for life and are willing not only to wear a corset every day but also a less tight one every night for a long time.

Woosh, aye aye aye!

Corsets? Especially a drawn tight laced corset , have by and large been discontinued from useage by women. Why, because they couldn't breath right, it hurt their rib cages, effected their heart rhythms, and literally squashed their kidneys, intestines, in their body cavity. Women of olden days hated corsets, but, it was the fashion or standard set by high society male designers. Women also used to have their feet bound as children to achieve tiny little feet that was also fashionable. The results was as an adult female who was unable to walk or stand up without help. It was finally outlawed.

A woman who was pregnant in the early trimester, could harm her fetus by corset wearing. The fashion of wearing an old fashioned lace up corset has pretty much been relegated to the S/M crowds. Women to day wear high-tech body shaping girdles or full body socks. No bone or wooden stays...

Men have a different rib cage than women. If you want to feel your ribs ache, and feel your digestive tract under stress then wear one. You'll also be labored in your breathing, especially if you are over weight.  Bending over could cause you to pass out.

Whenever I see one of these things on a female for any reason, I say;" Ohhh, ouchies".. to my self!   My suggestion is blunt; Diet, and exercise dear..you can control what you put into your mouth...a corset isn't the answer...

I tried a corset for a few months.

Not worth it.

Just eat a diet high in fat, low in carbs/protein and do your situps, it will all fall into place.

You can back track my posts, I used to be VERY concerned about a large torso but I've found out that not every chick has a Beyonce like waist/hip ratio.

CoolJ- heres my problem. I'm not on hormones yet and I have lost 22 pounds in 2 months. I am going to drop another 10 but then I'll have no fat at all. I guess the only way I could ever be happy is with hormone therapy. Problem with that is my wife will probably divorce me if I do it now. I cant go that route yet so I'm trying to do what I can naturally. Its like I've been in denial for so long then I finally realize who I am and now I want to go full throttle but I cant-but I want to-but I cant hurt my girls-O but I want to be me- but I'm too damned broad shouldered- Ahhhhhh I'd really love hormone therapy :-\ Thing is because I did squats I actually have some decent hips at 42".  My waist is 37 but I'll be down to 33 in no time. Problem is my shoulders and back look even bigger now that I have a smaller waist :-\ just great. God must be laughing his or her head off at me I'll tell ya! :D

So your wife WON'T divorce you if you start wearing a corset?

What the hell is wrong with dieting and going for a run?

And do you have any idea how constricting those things are?  I'm extremely flexible, as in full front and side split, palms to the ground flexible, and my movements were greatly impaired.  Picking something off the ground became an ordeal.
Not to mention the back problems.

Not worth it.

No,I think she'll divorce me if I start hormone therapy. She knows if she gives me an inch I'll take a mile. But thanks I'm definitely not going to use a corset. And as I've said earlier I have no problem losing weight. And despite having a power lifters shoulders I know that in time they will get smaller. :) I think my body would take to hormones really well so I've got to try and convince my wife its the best thing for me. O well back to the ole drawing board. :-\

Powerlifter's shoulders, LOL.

Wonder how many people, besides me, have actually been powerlifters on this site...
