The Holy Father's "Ecology of Man" speech has garnered a great deal of attention because one sentence, in a very long speech, made reference to the ways in which human sexuality falls short of the Gospel ideals. "What's often expressed and understood with the term 'gender' is summed up definitively in the self-emancipation of man from the created and the Creator," Pope Benedict XVI said. "But in this way, he lives in opposition to truth, he lives in opposition to the Creator." This fine and important point has been lost in the media coverage because anytime a cleric mentions the word sexuality, everything but a narrow focus on the human pelvis gets lost in the dust.

I am not obsessed. I can quit any time.

And yes, both of my hands are on the keyboard, I swear!

He's just mad because fewer and fewer people are interested in the World of Popecraft as time goes on.

I'm sorry, but I must disagree with you.  The pope is not mad about the lack of interest in popecraft so much as the pope is just mad - period.

I mean mad like the hatter

Yep. He represents oldness in a world yearning for newness.

It sounds like the beginning of a witch-hunt. I generally ignore the pope, because he has no context in my life, but the little I have heard about him and his views leads me to believe that he's trying to take the church backwards instead of making it relevant to the times we live in.  Makes you wonder which group(s) of people are the real threat to humanity.

making it relevant to the times we live in.

The idea of him coming out on on the balcony and saying "Ya know, I've been checking out the science stuff, and thinking a lot, and I've come to the conclusion that what we believe could not possibly be right, so I'm outta' here."

Somehow I don't see it happening.
