The choice of Rick Warren is unacceptable

As someone who has supported Barack Obama from the gate—when he was at best a long shot to capture the Democratic Party nomination—and who worked in the trenches for the better part of a year, I cannot describe adequately the profound sense of betrayal that I felt when I learned that he had named Rick Warren, the right-wing evangelical founder of Saddleback Church, to deliver the invocation at the presidential inauguration next month.  It is at once an outrage and politically unacceptable. Barack Obama has turned his back on part of his core base that got him to the White House. He should be ashamed.
