NY: With Dems like these, who needs Republicans?

The NY Dems in the legislature have been dealing with a few obstinent homophobes in their midst who, because of their strident opposition to marriage equality, recently threatened to caucus with the GOP. Never mind all of the other issues plaguing the Empire State (uh, can you say "budget crisis"?), for pols like Rev. Rubin Diaz, it's all about the threat of the rampaging homos who want -- gasp -- the right to marry. (PageOneQ):
New York State Senator Rev. Ruben Diaz has sent out a mailer reiterating his negative stance in his state's ongoing marriage equality battle.
"I am still a Democrat," Diaz said in the missive. "And I will always be a Democrat." The Senator wrote against proposed budget cuts by Governor Paterson and added that he does not "support the matrimony of homosexual couples."
