He'd had his 15 minutes of fame, therefore he lost his star.

Lassie has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Andy Warhol had one too, but they took it away after 15 minutes.
Why did they take away Andy Warhol's star?

because he said that people only get "15 minutes of fame"?

Unfair!!! He's been world famous for years!!!
Oh, so it was his decision?

Andy Warhol? no, he never actually had one, as far as i know.

now Andy Griffith, though, and Godzilla...

And last time I checked, like by looking at this thread - seems Mister Warhol is still pretty famous. And no, artists do not get stars.  Motion pictures, radio, theatre, T.V. and recordings  - i.e. performing arts, are the way to that star.

PLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLease.  He had not one, but two huge TV series.  The Andy Griffith Show/Mayberry RFD and Matlock.  He was also in movies doing No Time for Sergeants.

His star - for TV -  is at 6418 Hollywood Blvd.  I thought everyone knew that.

Andy Griffith that is.  The other Andy, he's way too New York for an LA star.

I'm sure about AG.  I'm also pretty sure there is a plaque at the site of The Factory, the Warhol studio in the 60s, in NYC.

Unless some ambitious dental student has removed it, there is a plaque there.

I haven't been to NYC since Rudy ruined Times Square, but I do have a map and index of Hollywood Blvd stars from the last time I went down there so I could take pix of the ones I really wanted.

yes, Andy Warhol was involved with many films, but no, he did not get a star [yet]

the only film that i ever saw in a theater with his stamp of 'approval', was Andy Warhol's Frankenstein.

Forgive me, I had forgotten that one bad pun always elicits another three or four to accompany it!

But they are very sincere puns.  So that makes it all OK.

BTW, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, who runs the star deal has a web site - of course - where you can look them all up, or if you are in LA you can buy a map, cause everything is for sale in LA.  Wiki also has some interesting facts on the deal.

You can see all the stars as you walk down Hollywood Boulevard
Some that you recognize, some that you've hardly even heard of
People who worked and suffered and struggled for fame
Some who succeeded and some who suffered in vain
